Job Description

Job Overview:

Under the supervision of the Safety & Wellness Program Manager, the Women’s Resilience Center and Social Work Field Placement Coordinator will oversee the WRC and supervise social work interns within the Safety & Wellness Department. The coordinator is responsible for coordinating WRC needs assessments, liaising with IRC departments and community partners to coordinate and schedule WRC programming, supervising the WRC Facilitator and WRC interns, and overall WRC management. Additionally, the Coordinator will provide field supervision to social work graduate and undergraduate students. These responsibilities include conducting outreach to partnering Universities, communicating with faculty, and collaborating with IRC staff for internship placements. Social work interns will be supporting IRC’s S&W Department’s case management programs for survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking, for newly arrived asylum seekers and supporting facilitation of wellness groups for new refugee arrivals. The Coordinator will also support facilitation of wellness groups, staff trainings, and supervise non-MSW interns and volunteers as capacity allows.

This position will be based in the IRC El Cajon office with some presence in the City Heights office.

Major Responsibilities:

Oversee WRC:

· Coordinate needs assessments, such as focus group discussions, individual interviews, and surveys;

· Collaborate with colleagues to develop program plan and schedule for WRC that reflects needs assessment data; in order to ensure client voice in WRC program design;

· Regularly liaise and coordinate with community partners in order to bring relevant programs into WRC, facilitated by external partners with appropriate expertise;

· Regularly liaise and coordinate with internal IRC departments to bring women-specific programs to WRC to meet expressed needs of clients;

· Hire and supervise staff, interns, and volunteers to support achievement of WRC program plan;

· Support IRC research projects on women’s wellness, as assigned;

· Oversee monitoring and evaluation for WRC activities;

· Participate and assist in recruiting volunteers for quarterly El Cajon Community Garden beautification; and

· Other duties as assigned.

Oversee Social Work Interns:

· Develop and maintain productive relationships with San Diego area educational institutions with BSW/MSW programs

· Complete training for BSW/MSW field placement supervision, as required by educational institutions

· Recruit and interview Social Work students for field placement, as well as other unit interns and volunteers

· Act as point person for inquiries from potential Social Work field placement students and college instructors

· Provide field supervision hours for BSW/MSW field placement students, as required by educational institution, and provide guidance on case management best practices, self-care, and adjusting to work in an office setting

· Meet with Social Work instructors to complete field placement site visits, as needed;

· Coordinate with Social Work students to complete necessary field placement paperwork, including all placement evaluations required by educational institution

· Lead staff/intern trainings, based on expertise, on topics such as trauma-informed care, self-care, interpretation for domestic violence, etc.;

· Ensure compliance with confidentiality and reporting requirements; and

· Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

· Preferred Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) required; MSW required;

- At least 2 years of progressive work experience within social services;

· Experience in case management, gender-based projects, health advocacy, community outreach, and partnership development; teaching/training experience preferred;

· Demonstrated experience working with refugees, asylees, victims of human trafficking, and/or immigrant populations desired;

· Health/mental health background preferred;

· Experience working with non-native speakers of varying levels and backgrounds required;

· Experience in community outreach, psychosocial services, and wellness group facilitation;

· Strong diplomatic and networking skills: the ability to effectively manage a variety of internal and external relationships required;

· Strong problem-solving and organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks, set priorities, effectively manage time, and meet deadlines required;

· Strong written and oral and interpersonal communication skills: the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and partners in a cross-cultural, multi-disciplinary environment, and the ability to present to a varied public required;

· Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook);

· Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle with current insurance;

· Experience working on research projects a plus; and

· Proficient in English, both spoken and written; second language highly valued.

Working Environment:

· Standard, professional office environment;

· This position will work both from the IRC office in El Cajon and City Heights;

· During pandemic: Some at-home work with reliable internet. Non-pandemic: Standard, professional office environment;

· Offices hours are scheduled as Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm; with occasional evening or weekend activities as needed;

· Regular travel to off-site locations is required; and

· Access to a reliable vehicle to travel regularly throughout the service delivery area.
