The IRC Iraq program was established in 2003 and is currently operating programs in 14 governorates in the Kurdistan Region and south central Iraq with an annual budget of over $30 million. Working in coordination with the humanitarian community, the IRC's assistance programs for Syrian refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Iraq, includes both camp-based and urban-based refugee and IDP assistance. The IRC Iraq supports IDPs, returnees, host communities and Syrian refugees across 14 governorates in Iraq with activities focused on education, protection and rule of law, women’s protection and empowerment, child protection and livelihoods activities. The IRC Iraq’s country office is based in Erbil, with field offices in Mosul, Kirkuk, Ramadi, Duhok and Baghdad and program offices in Sulaymaniyah, Salah al-Din and Karbala governorates.

The IRC now has ongoing programming in Ninewa, providing cash assistance and protection services to Iraqis affected by the military operation to re-take Mosul which started on October 2016, forcing many into displacement. To ensure the safety, wellbeing and protection needs of vulnerable women and girls are met, the IRC provides GBV prevention and response services through its Women’s Protection and Empowerment team.

Job Overview/Summary:

The Women protection and empowerment Sewing Facilitator will be responsible for field-based implementation and monitoring of sewing session delivery at the designated WPE implementation centers in Mosul and will work closely under the supervision of the Senior WPE Officer, and with the rest of the WPE team.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Deliver a series of training and lecture and sewing courses for women and girls at Women and Girls Safe Space in Mosul as recreational activity.

· Providing instruction and demonstration of basic stitching, use of basic patterns for bags, cushion covers, and clothing items, means for mending damaged clothing and other alterations,

· Training beneficiaries on the basic sewing machine use, and basic machine maintenance.

· Preparing course material and provide handouts to all participants.

· Communicating information with enthusiasm, clarity, and patience.

· Ensuring safe and appropriate use of all equipment.

· Cooperating with the center team to ensure the quality of the training.

· Recording and maintain accurate participants’ attendance records and grades on a daily basis.

· When requested by the IRC WPE team, attend WPE meetings on a bi-weekly or adhoc basis.

· When requested by the IRC WPE team, responsible for recording minutes and attendance at meetings and giving to the IRC for translation and dissemination.

· Support M&E team in data collection and data entry with relevant tools, as needed

· Strengthen relations with the community stakeholders, and other community groups, and seek their support for implementation of the WPE program

· Advocate for community participation to ensure women and girls access quality WPE services.

· Conduct daily check-ins with WPE Senior Officer and participate in WGSS team meetings.

· Ensure strong coordination with ECD team within the WGCC with regard to activities planning, scheduling, and beneficiary engagement.

· Following GBV guiding principles in day-to-day work after receiving GBV Core Concept training.

· Ensuring information is collected safely and securely with confidentiality upheld in regard to information sharing within and outside of the WGSS;

· Assist the supervisions and attend to IRC office to discuss the activities implemented, challenges, achievements, Data and any other task requested from the supervisors

· Provide support and assistance to WPE staff in the WGSS as needed;

· Any other related tasks requested by the Sr. WPE Officer.

Indirect Reporting: Senior WPE Officer Other Internal and/or external contacts:

Internal: Research team, ECD team, PRoL Team, CYPD team, M&E team, IRC Mosul field teams

External: local governance representatives, local ECD stakeholders

Travel and other requirements:

The position will be based in Mosul/ WPE centers, with frequent travel required between relevant areas.

Qualifications

- Certificate, craft certificate or license and approximately 2 years’ experience in a similar role, Diploma Or bachelor degree in Social work will be an advantage , - At least 2 years of professional experience working in human rights, women’s empowerment, or protection field, preferably with humanitarian INGO. - Experience developing and managing databases and conducting statistical analysis and reporting - Strong understanding of case management, psychosocial support, and life skills programming to promote survivor healing and recovery. - Demonstrated experience in overseeing data collection and M&E activities - Demonstrated capacity to write clear reports - Outstanding interpersonal skills, and capacity to maintain excellent working relationships with relevant team members. - Demonstrated capacity to perform well under pressure with overlapping deadlines in a challenging environment - Fluency in written and spoken in Arabic and English is a plus.
