This is a UNV International Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as International UN Volunteer. It is normally internationally recruited only. More about UNV International Specialist contracts.

Description of task

Under the direct supervision of Chief of Integrated Mission Training Centre (CIMTC) the UN volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Design, develop, deliver and coordinate training events, seminars and workshops aimed at enhancing the competencies and technical skills of staff members in - classroom, online and virtually. Training events also include, technical and substantive modules, induction briefings, safety and security briefs, leadership, management, communication skills, and planning.
  • Coordinate the implementation of external training and follow up with participants on all post-external training requirements such as Post Training Report and Knowledge-Sharing activities
  • Collaborate closely with the Substantive Division to ensure their training needs are incorporated in the IMTC plans and programmes and are timely addressed
  • Organize and implement the MONUSCO IMTC Capacity Building Programmes
  • Manage e-learning programs, prepare monthly training calendar and coordinate and address internal training requests
  • Assist in managing the IMTC databases for all training activities and maintain accurate statistics inputs
  • Coordinate the bi-monthly In-Service Training Programme (ISTP) of IMTC staff and personnel to include the uniformed personnel
  • Coordinate with the police and military training units to ensure that their training activities are captured in the IMTC monthly reports to the mission management, ITS/DPET/DPO, BOA and OIOS
  • Monitor and report on IMTC delivered training programmes
  • Update information on the IMTC webpage and Portal
  • Generate various reports on training-related activities from in-mission databases for submission to IMTC Chief and eventually to mission management and UNHQ
  • Manage the work of national individual contractors serving as Team/Training Assistants
  • Perform other tasks as directed by the supervisor.

Educational additional comments

University degree in educational studies, communication, management or other related field of studies

Experience remark

At least 3 years of professional work experience in evaluating, monitoring, dorganizing and implementing learning and development programmes, public speaking or similar field of communication

Language skills

  • English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
  • French(Mandatory), Level - Fluent

Area of expertise details

  • University degree in educational studies, communication, management or other related field of studies
  • At least 3 years of professional work experience in evaluating, monitoring, dorganizing and implementing learning and development programmes, public speaking or similar field of communication
  • Proficient in written and oral English; proficient and accurate in programme and report writing, both narrative & statistical. Functional French is an advantage.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in various MS Office applications, emails, internet research, web applications, database management, e-learning program/ website management and office technology equipment;
  • Previous work experience in a post-conflict context, in a UN/NGO, national, international or civil/military setting, is desirable;
  • Valid driver’s license is also desirable
  • Affinity with or interest in: humanitarian relief, post-conflict situations, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, the UN System
  • Sound safety and security awareness
