UNV Associate Information Analyst
Contract

Eligibility criteria
Minimum age: 25 years old. Nationals of the country of assignment are not eligible, except the assignments in Headquarters duty stations.
Description of task
Under the overall guidance of Chief JMAC and under the direct supervision of one of his delegates, the UN Volunteer Associate Information Analyst Officer will be responsible for the following duties:
- Collect, evaluate and analyze information related to developments / events relevant to the implementation of the Mission mandate, in particular concerning dynamics of non-State armed groups and factions, with a view to provide the Senior Mission Leadership with integrated analysis and predictive assessments enabling them to take timely decisions aimed at identifying opportunities and averting threats to mission mandate implementation;
- Develop a network of relevant contacts, including local sources, in order to produce relevant information in line with Mission’s mandate and JMAC’s specific tasks.
- Maintain excellent relationships with all other sections and components (civilian, military, and police, political) in order to maximize information already present in the various UN structures.
- Produce inputs for daily and weekly situation reports and threat assessments, which include forecasting analyses, scenarios and proposals of course of action for the Mission leadership.
- Set aside dedicated time for training, coaching, mentoring and capacity development when working with (including supervising) national staff or (non-)governmental counterparts, the incumbent should.
- Participate in fact-finding missions in sectors and regional field offices of the Mission.
- Perform any other related duties as required by the direct supervisor.
- Analyze challenges in the management of flows, in particular of natural resources, arms and ammunition and financial resources, across the country.
Qualifications/Requirements
Required degree level:
Bachelor degree or equivalent
Education - Additional Comments:
Political Science, Security Studies, Political Economy, International Relations or related.
Ability to write in a clear and concise manner and to communicate effectively orally.
Required experience:
36 Months
Experience remark:
At least 3 years of progressively responsible professional experience in international affairs, political affairs, security, information analysis. International experience is required. Experience in a conflict or a post-conflict situation in Africa is an asset. Previous exposure to the work of JMAC and/or analytical think tanks an asset.

Driving license required: Yes. Experience in driving 4wheels drive an asset.
Computer skills: Solid computer skills, including full proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and other IT applications and office technology equipment.
