Contract
This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.
Description of task
The Program Officer will undertake the following tasks:
- Management, coordination and delivery of the results and project outcomes (1-3), while ensuring linkages between all three project outcomes.
- Supporting coordination activities related to the project among various stakeholder outlined in the Project Document.
- Development of and implementation of the multi-sectoral coordination framework.
- Supporting the revamping of regional disability forums.
- Advocacy interventions and campaigns to promote coordination through the Disability Forum.
- Facilitating capacity development of the Disability Committee and Forum through trainings to improve coordination and strengthen the capacity of OPDs, NGOs, CSOs and the private sector to implement programmes at national, regional and community levels.
- Monitoring the activities of the Disability Forum and preparing reports, including the initial State Report on the CRPD and the shadow report.
Qualifications/Requirements
Required degree level:
Technical/Vocational diploma
Education - Additional Comments:
Social Sciences, International Relations, Community Development, Human Rights or Gender Equality, and Disability Studies

Specific requirements:
The UN Volunteer should have previous experience working with an organization in Timor-Leste working on project development, implementation or monitoring and contributing to diverse teams Work experience will be an advantage but not a requirement.
- Understanding of international human rights and gender equality instruments, such as the Convention on the Rights of Persons with a Disability (CPRD) and Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) and human rights-based programming approaches
Past experience working on issues related to gender equality, peacebuilding, gender-based violence and/or women’s human rights
Professional experience with institutional and organizational monitoring or evaluation, particularly related to gender equality, disability inclusion, or community development
Language skills:
- English(Mandatory), Level - Working Knowledge
- Tetum(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
