Contract

This is a G-6 contract. This kind of contract is known as General Service and related categories. It is normally only for nationals. It usually requires 6 years of experience, depending on education. More about G-6 contracts.

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

1. To undertake systems analysis, design and define specifications of corporate network and web applications integrated with the Regional Office Business Technology Solutionsprogramme;

2. To provide training/briefing and guidance for EMRO technical and administrative units in areas of computer applications;

3. To advise, on request, the Regional Office Management on the use of network applications and web technology.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

1. Implement Information Systems in the Regional Office and Country Offices of the Organization.

2. Determine user requirements for new or modified business processes.

3. Develop and implement client/server and web-based applications in accordance with businessrequirements and EMRO/ITT standards for application development.

4. Develop databases for the implementation of applications.

5. Provide technical support for IT services related to knowledge management including collaborative portals,content management platforms, document management and information indexing and searching.

6. Provide technical support and application maintenance in collaboration with other team members to provide second level technical support and problem resolution for applications in production.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: Completion of secondary education, supplemented by training in computer programing and advanced training in software and database development. Desirable: University degree in computer sciences and/or related sciences.

Experience

Essential: At least 8 years' experience, in designing and developing Client/Server and web-based applications; software development tools, programming languages and relational database systems including Microsoft Visual Studio, Microsoft .NET Framework, and Microsoft SQL Server. Desirable: - Working experience with Microsoft SharePoint platforms.- Knowledge of Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) and Business Intelligence platforms.

Skills

- Working knowledge of the design and implementation of client/server and web-based Information Systems

- Proven technical skills in systems analysis, software development and systems documentation.

- Up-to-date working knowledge of the latest generation of programming languages, familiarity with the latest commercial platforms for software development, and database management systems.

- Working knowledge of project management methodology to effectively contribute in the implementation of software development projects.

- Ability to work effectively in the implementation of software projects in collaboration with other team members.

REMUNERATION

WHO offers staff in the General Services category an attractive remuneration package, which for the above position includes an annual net base salary starting at EGP 294,414 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
