Work Location Home-based remotely. In-person for a few times if within commuting distance of the office in New York City, USA.

Expected duration 6 months

Duties and Responsibilities The temporary job opening is full-time (35 hours weekly) for six months. The individual contractor may undertake the assignment in a home-based remote or, if the individual contractor resides within commuting distance of the office in New York City, USA, a hybrid working arrangement (remotely and in-person in New York City, USA).

This individual contractor’s position is located in the Non-Staff Desk, Human Resource Unit, Executive Office serving the Departments of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (DPPA) and Peace Operations (DPO). The individual contractor is under the general supervision of the Human Resources Desk Officer.

  • Maintain the content of the office intranet for non-staff issues.
  • Work on updating the internal forms using Microsoft tools or Adobe.
  • Communicate information to clients non-staff administration, procedures, and UN systems
  • Monitor the internal ticketing system and work on assignments assigned.
  • Assist in improving the internal business processes for non-staff
  • Maintain and organize files on Microsoft SharePoint
  • Organize and file paper documents
  • Support with organizational and operational improvements
  • Ad hoc assignments.

    Qualifications/special skills High school diploma or equivalent is required. Relevant first-level university degree in combination with one year of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of three years of required experience. A minimum of three years (or one year if graduated with a bachelor’s degree) of responsible experience in administrative functions or general office support is required.

    Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required.
