Systems Administrator

Expected duration 1 Jan 2022 - 30 Jun 2022 (6 months). The monthly salary is 110'000 THB, payable at the end of each month.

Duties and Responsibilities The UN Secretariat's OICT Enterprise Application Centre (EAC-BKK) purpose is to develop and support a wide array of in-house enterprise applications.

As a part of projects mandated by the UN General Assembly, the team requires an IT professional with system administration expertise to design and support the associated infrastructure for web and mobile applications.

The consultant shall provide expertise and support of application servers, including the testing and deployment of applications, the configuration and support of Java application servers on Linux, in a variety of environments.

The consultant's responsibilities are: - Provide expert troubleshooting and support for the systems operated by the UN Secretariat OICT/EAC Bangkok team; - Administer Java application servers on Linux; - Maintain system configuration documentation; - Liaise with data center teams for the procurement, configuration, and support of needed infrastructure, including for disaster recovery; - Participate in mission deployments and training activities; - Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications/special skills Skills: Knowledge and hands-on experience with administering Java application servers, particularly Tomcat running on Linux servers.

Understanding and/or familiarity with dealing with various aspects of data centre infrastructure and management, such as load balancers, firewalls, networking, Linux OS management, and change and configuration management is desirable. Academic Qualifications: Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree in the relevant fields is desired. Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in Java web enterprise application systems configuration and support is required. 1-3 years of experience in Android mobile platform administration is highly desirable. Language: Fluency in written and oral English is required. Knowledge of another United Nations official language is an advantage.
