Survivors of Torture (SOT) Community Navigator

Major Responsibilities:

• Receive and review incoming referrals for prospective clients; schedule for first available intake.

• Assess eligibility and needs at intake, complete enrollments, and develop service plans.

• Provide relevant referrals to clients deemed ineligible for the SOT Program.

• Support efforts to link clients with appropriate services across SWC domains.

• Assist clients to attain their established goals, address challenges, and utilize available resources.

• Evaluate client progress quarterly to determine progress toward goals and assess for closure.

• Assist clients in navigating services, which may include connecting clients to group programming, helping clients apply for benefits, and supporting them in scheduling and attending appointments.

• Assist in mapping out community resources and making client referrals to community partners.

• Provide clients with extended orientation on a variety of topics such as navigating transportation systems and navigating physical healthcare systems at the local level.

• Staff weekly drop-in hours to assist clients with a range of issues and needs.

• Coordinate with IRC colleagues to facilitate access to food security programs and other basic needs support.

• Conduct community outreach to service providers to ensure client needs are met.

• Support SOT Clinical Case Managers in response to client crises as needed.

• Maintain up-to-date documentation in client’s case file and Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) to ensure services and referrals are properly documented and service requirements are met throughout the service period.

• Collect data needed for Program Data Points (PDP) and monitoring and evaluation purposes; participate in data deep dives, reviews, and client share backs to facilitate continuous quality improvement.

• Assist in preparing reports to Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR).

• Attend relevant trainings and meetings at the local and national level.

• Other duties as assigned. May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or a related field, preferred.

• Relevant professional experience with similar populations and/or client needs strongly preferred.

• Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience strongly preferred, ideally in an MHPSS capacity.

• Strong relationship building, diplomacy, and networking skills; ability to build trust and rapport with clients.

• Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment.

• Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills and proven ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.

• Attention to detail and accuracy in work product.

• Fluency in English required, both spoken and written; proficiency in client language(s) strongly preferred.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to use the internet and other digital tools for data entry, research, and problem-solving purposes.

• Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable and fully insured personal vehicle.

• Must provide proof of full vaccination against COVID-19.

Working Environment

- A combination of standard office environment and remote work. - Staff are required to adhere to IRC’s COVID risk mitigation policies, which may include masking, physical distancing, enhanced hygiene practices, symptom screening, and isolation and quarantine when needed. IRC policies may be stricter than federal, state, or local level policies.

Compensation and Benefits: This is a full-time, regular position classified as a non-exempt and eligible for overtime under state and federal law. Starting compensation is $21.00- $24.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. We offer a comprehensive and highly competitive set of benefits.
