Result of Service To examine the real scope of impact of sanctions and work to give a clearer understanding of the link between the impact that sanctions have on economic factors, stabilization requirements and the overall humanitarian situation.

Work Location Beirut

Expected duration The assignment will be until 30 December 2021 starting from the signature date of the contract.

Duties and Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Programme Manager of the National Agenda for Syria Programme, the consultant will be responsible for the following duties: - Develop Introductory content about the impact of Sanctions, including any literature review and comparative studies on the topic to capture learnings. - Develop an outline for the report along with the key areas of focus of the LNA report. - Participate in experts group meetings and support ESCWA in developing the content of the meeting through input on structure, presentation, etc. - Support ESCWA in facilitating the meetings as well as develop notes on the various presentations and papers and produce a final report that summarises key findings based on this and the published reports. - Develop briefs on key issues (one-Two pagers) for communication about the work of the group and key useful findings.

Qualifications/special skills Skills: Proven knowledge and experience in researching international sanctions, proven knowledge of the Syrian conflict and Syria's economic and social sectors, and institutions is disreable. Established publications record is preferred. Academic Qualifications: Master's degree in economics, political science, political economy, development studies, social studies, or a related area is required. Experience: A minimum of ten years of experience in economics, political science, political economy, development studies. Social studies, or a related area is required. Language: Fluency in English is required.
