Over the last two years IOM ICT Regional Office in Vienna has developed a camp management software application tool. In this context, it is expected that the volunteer will contribute to support IOM’s implementation efforts and bring innovative ideas when it comes to the use of the application globally and provide a training environments documentation and user guide for the new users and test the application.

The SMART CAMP APPLICATION builds on lessons learned and best practices from the daily activities of the migrant camps, fostering time, and resource efficiency. With its customizable architecture, the application can be tailored to fit specific local processes and the IT needs of partner countries. It strengthens inter-agency coordination and brings accountability and transparency in camp management processes, whilst enabling compliance with existing legal frameworks, including data protection legislation.

This volunteer assignemnt(s) will be to support and assist the Regional ICT activities in preparing and organizing online capacity-building initiatives of the ICT unit, including revising presentations and preparing the supporting documentation, the candidate will assist in designing screens for web applications. Assist in preparing materials for the provision of training to the missions in the region, preparing brochures, user manuals, information sheets, presentations, talking points, reports, etc. Assist in migrating the existing application codes to accommodate the technical needs of the ICT projects in the region.

The Online Volunteers will liaise with IOM’s ICT colleagues in the coordination of the training activities.

The Online Volunteers will also ensure that all the meetings and developing are recorded and well reported before, during and after any online session or meeting.

The Online Volunteers should have good writing and oral communication skills. The volunteer should be familiar with the use of the developed applications, to support IOM team in the planning, organization, and delivery of the ICT activities.

Candidates should have experience in usage of PHP, JavaScript, CSS and MySQL and knowledge of Office 365 and MS Teams. Experience in developing web and mobile applications as well as in the field of Artificial Intelligence will be an advantage. The volunteer should have good communication skills (both orally and in writing) as the volunteer will be expected to liaise by e-mail and through regular calls with IOM staff from different backgrounds and countries.
