Org. Setting and Reporting The position is located in the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo . The Supply Assistant reports to the Chief of Unit/Section, S/he supervises and ensures the provision of equipment, office supplies, materials and other supply related services to the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo as well as receiving and inspecting supplies upon arrival at the mission.

Responsibilities Within the limits of delegated authority, the Supply Assistant will carry out the following duties: •Manage and Supervise Supply Rations Operation in the assigned area of responsibility; monitor and maintained contingent stocks at sector level including concentration point; implements Quality Control/Assurance to ensure the contractual terms, cost and schedules. •Receives authorized requisitions for Rations Operations from Chiefs of Section and Heads of units; verifies the requisitions and issue in accordance with Contingents’/Rations requirements; ensures that rations are issued to requesting contingents’ as per approved requisitions without delay. •Monitors stock of supplies in the stores and in the reserve depots; conducts regular stock taking of items in the supply rations stores, concentration points, and strategic reserves and prepares reports on discrepancies observed; informs Chief Of Unit, on CRPs and water reserve stocks which requires stock replenishment in a timely manner; and ensure that rations are issued to requestors before expiration date of the products; Plans well in advance on expected delivery of Rations in order to maintain adequate storage facilities for incoming goods.

•Assists in raising requisitions for services and items required by the Rations Unit; receives requests from contingents and raises requisitions in the system for goods /services required; approves recipes and food requests in coordination with the contingents Food Officers or Logistics Officer; monitor, update and verify troop strength of the contingent within Sector AOR; Implement and perform APL management in SAP eRMS database as required; •Assists Receipt and Inspection Unit (R&I) in receiving and inspecting goods delivered by vendors and managed by Supply Unit; Processes internal R&I reports for goods in the Supply Stores and forward to R&I unit for processing records of the goods in the system and issue according to established procedures; •Conducts periodic/weekly inventory of Rations reserve and stocks and update records in the system by processing issue vouchers to individual end users of UN property for purpose of transparency and accountability.

•Conduct inspection and provide report of CRP reserve stocks and bottled water including food storage and advise contingent as required. Prepares write-off request for property, which is lost, obsolete or damaged.

•Perform other duties as required

Education High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Work Experience A minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in supply, inventory management, procurement, logistics support preferably, HACCP, ISO 22000, including at least 2 years at the international level Experience in applying the methods, procedures and techniques relating to the work is required Experience in supporting supply services in support of or in a field operation of the United Nations Common System or a comparable international organization is desirable Technical certificate in at least two of the following areas: procurement/contract management, inventory management and supply management is desirable.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position(s) advertised, fluency in both English and French is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
