Marketing & Mobilization (M&M), a part of External Relations (ER), is a dynamic team, tasked with overseeing and implementing communications and marketing, building the IRC’s global profile and brand, growing private revenue from deeper donor engagement and partnerships, and influencing our target audiences. In alignment with our Strategy100 commitments, M&M has launched bold multi-year campaigns that raise funding, profile and influence and will improve our share of voice and resonance in key geographies and globally.

The Content and Creative team, a part of M&M, consists of award-winning creative specialists and idea partners, developing powerful communications and experiences to engage audiences and deliver on ER ambitions and objectives. Using creative mediums such as visual design, video, stunts, events, and storytelling, they tap into the expertise and talents of colleagues across the organization.

Job Overview

The Senior Producer, Content & Strategy is a champion for strategic storytelling and leads the development and delivery of compelling stories about the IRC’s response to emergencies and crises and the people that are impacted that will help support revenue, advocacy and brand efforts.

The role calls for a highly creative and resourceful storyteller and content creator who knows how to translate complex topics into easy-to-understand content. Able to identify a compelling story angle and conceptualize a breakthrough idea that meets campaign and content goals. S/he is a leader in producing results of various lengths that engage audiences via various platforms and channels and optimizing content for mobile and social. As a strong producer and communicator, this person will drive projects to completion working cross-functionally with Regional Communications, Program Staff, and Creative Leads to produce high-quality content.

Major Responsibilities

Content & Creative Strategy and Planning

· Build strong ties with local storytellers to strengthen story-spotting and pre-screening process for story subjects

· Lead on the identification and briefing with photographers and videographers, in close partnership with communications leads for programs and video

· Support the Associate Director, Content to maintain our forward-looking calendar of content-gathering trips and ensure our gathering efforts are directly tied to strategic external relations priorities.

· Lead producer for assigned content trips; working with Content and Creative team, Public Affairs, local Comms staff, and global content collaborators. Develop detailed TOR’s for trips that take into account the needs of different departments and teams.

· Based on business needs, work with Program teams to find the most compelling stories; and to plan out efficient content collection process (including freelance support).

· Develop story angles of key crises and issues in collaboration with communications staff and senior creative leads. Be a passionate advocate for unique story angles and strong creative ideas that will resonate with target audiences online.

Content Development

· Develop and implement strategic and compelling cross-channel multi-media content in support of IRC fundraising, advocacy and public engagement – while ensuring that IRC’s content production aligns with our core value of Equality and DEI goals.

· Collaborate with channel owners (e.g. social media, websites, newsletters) and design and video specialists to ensure content is on-message, on-brand and aligned to goals.

· Collaborate with Editorial team and the frontline staff team to develop thorough, well-researched answers

· Ensure the team can develop high quality Advocacy and Communication products, including the drafting, editing and production of visuals.

· Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Job requirements

Qualifications

· BA in journalism, communications, filmmaking or relevant field.

· At least 6-8 years of professional journalism experience working for a media organization or non-profit.

· Demonstrated ability to produce compelling, high-quality content; strong story instincts, and sharp writing and editing skills of multi-media packages (with some combination of photo, video, and graphic skills); proficiency of multimedia and film production tools (Large “ENG” video cameras, DSLR & Mirrorless cameras, smartphones, GoPros, Drones, basic lighting, grip gear, location and studio sound setups, Adobe Creative Cloud products)

· Portfolio of multimedia content

· Proven ability to provide clear direction and work well with freelancers (i.e. photographers, videographers, reporters); access to freelance networks.

· Ability to work well independently and as part of a team; comfortable collaborating with and channeling the multiple collaborators involved in NGO communications projects.

· Eager to travel widely and willing to work unusual hours.

· Able to think quickly and creatively under pressure work environment

Language Skills

· English (fluent); French and/or Arabic is a plus

Working Environment: Fast-paced and fluid work environment. Able to travel domestically or internationally up to 25%
