Spatial-Statistics Data Integration Consultant

Duties and Responsibilities Background:
The project is to promote the integration of social, economic, and environmental data and to fill in data gaps for the monitoring of sustainable development goals in the Arab world. The focus is on enhancing geo-statistical data acquisition and dissemination and on showcasing user-centric analytical capabilities for future capacity-building activities.
General Duties:
To conduct data Integration, convert and transform data, create connections between various formats and apps, transform and alter the structure, content, and characteristics of data, re-configure data for different applications, formats and models, use spatial data sets and integrate data to produce knowledge about locations, validate and verify the quality of data, empower data towards informed decisions.
Responsibilities:
- To report to project coordinator for the below tasks:
- Contribute to ESCWA’s geo-statistical databases and applications.
- Identify new regional, national, and subnational geo-statical data sets.
- Conduct data collection, synthesis and analysis.
- Collate geo-statistical databases.
- Document the quality, accuracy, and consistency of data.
- Implement geostatistical edits and imputation
- Make recommendations on technical issues.
- Help in the development of indicators.
- Produce dashboards, charts, maps, and infographics.
- Contribute to capacity-building and training sessions.
- Facilitate information sharing between partners.
Conduct data validation.
Qualifications/special skills A Master’s degree in Geographic Information System or related fields on engineering and sciences is required. A minimum of three years of relevant experience is required. Proven experience in the production of geographic information system products is required. Previous experience in GIS and feature manipulation in regional context is required. Previous experience in an international agency is an advantage. Excellent planning and organizational skills are desirable. Strong GIS and analytical skills are desirable. Good planning and organizational skills are desirable. Ability to work flexibly and under pressure to meet tight deadlines are desirable.
