The IRC Yemen began its programs in October 2012. Currently IRC Yemen is operating in eight governorates in the south and north of Yemen through direct programming and through a local partnership in Health, WASH, Nutrition, Economic Recovery Development, Education, Child Protection, Gender and Women Protection and Empowerment. These sectors are responding to food insecurity, cholera and other humanitarian needs within the displaced populations.

Scope of Work: This position will be responsible for delivering and implementing SHLS curriculum and activities to young children and adolescents, supporting team members and other administrative tasks.

Responsibilities: - Participate in SHLS and SEL, FMD, SAFE training conducted by IRC staff. - Use child-centered methods in their approach to work with children. - Provide a safe environment for learning according to established schedules and routines. - Report any child safeguarding incidents to the SHLS Officer. - Provide weekly and activity reports. - Collaborate closely with community leaders and other external parties as required to maintain/improve the security environment for IRC programs. - Keep accurate records of children’s daily attendance. - Adhere to the Code of Conduct every day – in SHLS and in community. - Prepare lesson plan on a weekly basis with the team. - Report material and supply needs to the SHLS Officer. - Observe children with special needs and ensure they are well integrated into the activities and, if needed, refer them to relevant services. - Refer any suspected cases of harm of children to the case management team.

Qualifications

Requirements (Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities) - Technical diploma/degree in social work, or any related degree or equivalent working experience. - Minimum 1 year of experience implementing child protection programs. - Shown understanding of working with Adolescents, children, and particularly vulnerable children. - Previous experience in delivering skills building or learning activities for young children. - Personal qualities: Team player, flexible, strong communication skills with children and caregivers, analytical skills, network-builder, able to handle pressure well and work in cross-cultural setting. - English would be an advantage. - Proficiency in Arabic.

Work Environment: This position will be based in Aden with frequent visit to mobile field sites.
