Background/IRC Summary --------------------------

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. Founded in 1933, the IRC offers lifesaving care and life-changing assistance to refugees forced to flee from war or disaster.

Its External Relations (ER) department was crafted in early 2020 and is comprised of three complementary functional areas: Private Fundraising, Communications and Advocacy – functions that work together to improve IRC’s ability to ‘punch above its weight’ in private income, advocacy, and brand awareness.

The International Philanthropy and Partnerships (IPP) team leads on the Organization’s engagement with corporations, foundations, international philanthropists globally, as well as IRC’s efforts in new funding streams (Faith-based; Donor-Advised Funds; Innovative Financing et al).

Job Overview/Summary: -------------------------

The Senior Officer will report directly to the Director of Global Strategic Alliances and work closely with colleagues across the corporate fundraising team to develop and implement robust, dynamic partnerships and cultivate their own partnerships portfolio. They will also work seamlessly with internal partners across departments in External Relations and programs, including the Global Partnerships & Philanthropic Services (GPPS), Crisis Response, Recovery & Delivery (CRRD) and Resettlement, Asylum & Integration (RAI) teams.

As an account manager, they will cultivate, steward and solicit corporate clients primarily in the consumer-facing businesses (such as TripAdvisor, Nike, Ben & Jerry’s. etc.) that support the IRC through financial and other resource commitments. The Officer will build tailored strategies for collaboration with companies, focusing on sustained revenue generation and humanitarian impact through innovative, outcomes-based partnerships.

The person who fills this role will be a self-motivated, collaborative, creative, strategic, and driven professional with a passion for the IRC's mission, curiosity about private sector fundraising and partnerships, and dedication to the IRC's diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. They will thrive in a fast paced environment and be able to quickly build dynamic, high-value corporate partnerships. The salary range for this position is £52k – £57k per annum.

Major Responsibilities: ---------------------------

- Collaborate with the Global Strategic Alliances team to establish funding goals and benchmarks for a portfolio of partners in support of IRC’s Strategy100 with a focus on diversified funding streams, growing unrestricted funds, and expanding influence; - Lead on developing a series of high-impact, solutions-focused partnerships with consumer-focused partnerships (i.e. Nike, TripAdvisor, etc), that serve our beneficiaries across the world, while offering companies innovative outlets to deploy philanthropic and core-business solutions supporting our humanitarian agenda; - Lead engagement with partners alongside a team of two other Officers, with a collective goal of $2.5M in cash in Fiscal Year 2022; - Design and implement creative outreach, solicitation and management strategies for partners within the portfolio, such as pitches, proposal submissions, and partnership discussions; - In collaboration with the Director, represent the Corporate Partnerships team in cross-departmental meetings to ensure a corporate partnership perspective is included in IRC strategy and planning; - Develop materials for multi-sectoral partners or prospects, including concept notes, proposals, presentations, and reports, from drafts through to final line-editing and formatting; - Establish a robust client servicing plan for each portfolio partner, including identifying key performance indicators, ongoing planning and reporting procedures to optimize quality of service, income growth, and donor satisfaction; - With team members, deliver objectives for corporate partners, including budget, evaluation, and reporting; - Facilitate information flows between prospects and donors, program staff and fellow IPP officers; - Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with External Relations colleagues and IRC program and support staff globally; - Undertake special assignments, as directed

Job Requirements --------------------

- Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience; - Experience of front-line corporate fundraising and partnership development experience in a dynamic, fast-paced nonprofit environment; - Dedication to supporting our DEI efforts through development of multi-faceted partnerships that benefit a wide range of clients with varying backgrounds; - Experience working with businesses, particularly in the consumer goods sectors; - Experience raising and stewarding gifts of $500K+ through sophisticated corporate partnerships, including in-kind and pro-bono support; - Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills, including: speaking to and writing for donors; crafting compelling partnership proposals and pitch materials; - Experience working toward, and meeting, bold individual revenue goals and performance indicators, as well as participating in financial projections, reporting, and scenario planning; - Confirmed and consistent track record of maintaining positive and collaborative relationships with staff at all levels; - Ability to translate an organization’s strategy and objectives into operational delivery and, at times, respond quickly to changes in short-term priorities; - Extensive knowledge of the vital support processes required to deliver effective institutional funder relationships, and the ability to identify and build new ones; - Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to devise creative solutions to complex problems and issues; - Dedication to fundraising for international development, human rights, social justice and US immigrant community causes; - Ability to travel domestically and occasionally internationally, and ability to work evenings and weekends for urgent matters.
