OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

The Information Technology Group (ITG) provides information and technologies management and support services to WHO technical programmes in the Region. The unit is also responsible for the formulation, implementation and coordination of IT strategies and policies in the Region.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Administrative Officer (Information Technology), the incumbent will be part of the ITG and will be expected to:

1. Lead and supervise the day-to-day activities of Network, Server and Platform Support & Regional Service Desk teams, plan and allocate work assignments, motivate staff, ensure that each team member delivers against clearly defined objectives and evaluate performance;

2. Contribute to the development and preparations of ITG work plans and ensure the cost-effective use of funds and delivery within the set time frame and budget, and provide clear, accurate and regular reporting on activities and costs, spending plans;

3. Contribute to the scoping, planning, implementation and delivery of support and server management activities;

4.Take the lead in the development/delivery of Network, Server and Platform Support & Regional Service Desk, technologies and activities while working towards the continuous service improvement and represent WPRO in specific projects;

5. Develop end-user documentation and FAQs, including, but not limited to, standards, policies and audit requirements relevant to the user support environment, research results, maintain operational task status lists, operational progress reports, etc., and report to the Administrative Officer (Information Technology) on a regular basis;

6. Identify, recommend, develop, and implement end user training programs to increase computer literacy and self-sufficiency;

7. Install and configure computer operating systems, applications and mobile devices, provide technical assistance for VC and TC requirements;

8. Liaise with vendors for hardware repairs and maintenance;

9. Suggest and implement policies, processes and operational procedures to ensure the effective management and support of activities, including monitoring compliance; and

10. Perform any other tasks required by management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: Graduation from secondary school. Technical training in computer studies or information technology or equivalent. Desirable: University degree in Information Technology or related field. Certifications in Microsoft support, Microsoft 365 applications, ITIL v3 or higher/more recent, or in Cisco networking.

Experience

Essential: At least ten years' work experience related to the field of information technology with at least five years in providing end-user support, installation and administration of information technology systems. Desirable: At least two years' experience in coordinating a team of IT staff. Working knowledge of IT ticketing tools such as Service Now or similar. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications for productivity and collaboration, and video conference systems and applications.

REMUNERATION

WHO offers staff in the General Services category an attractive remuneration package, which for the above position includes an annual net base salary starting at PHP 865,090 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
