Duties and Responsibilities 1. Background of the assignment:

UNICRI is a United Nations entity established in 1968 to support countries worldwide in preventing crime and facilitating criminal justice. UNICRI is mandated to assist intergovernmental, governmental and non-governmental organizations in formulating and implementing improved policies in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice. UNICRI’ s goals are: - to advance understanding of crime-related problems; - to foster just and efficient criminal justice systems; - to support the respect of international instruments and other standards; - to facilitate international law enforcement cooperation and judicial assistance.

Integrated knowledge management through research and the dissemination of relevant information on crime prevention and criminal justice is one of UNICRI’s core objectives. This objective is reliant upon specialized training and education activities. In carrying out these objectives, UNICRI offers a series of post-graduate classes and short courses on topics that fall within the scope of its mandate. In 2022, UNICRI is offering the fifth edition of the Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Transnational Crime and Justice in collaboration with the University for Peace and 7 specialized courses organized in cooperation with different universities and training institutes.

2. Purpose of the assignment: Within the framework of the Training and Advanced Education Programme of UNICRI, the incumbent will support the implementation of the existing training activities and contribute to designing new ones.

3. Specific tasks to be performed by the Incumbent: Under the supervision of the Programme Management Officer, the incumbent will perform the following tasks:

a) Contribute to the organization and promotion of a new on-line Master programme on “Cybercrime, Cybersecurity and International Law” as well as new and ongoing specialized courses offered in hybrid format (on-line and in Rome, Italy). In particular, the incumbent will: - Assist in the drafting of project documents and courses programme in coordination with project partners; - Provide support in identifying suitable platforms for advertising and promoting training activities and prepare advertising material in coordination with the Public Information and Communication Team of UNICRI; - Support in the identification of international, governmental and non-governmental organizations, research institutes and individual experts in view of their involvement in the training sessions and coordinate lecturers to facilitate their participation to the courses; - Guide and facilitate the implementation of learning and training activities using state of the art learning and training methodologies, resources and tools (including e-learning and blended approaches). b) Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in economics, political science, law or related fields is required. Experience: A minimum of 10 (ten) years of work experience in organization, facilitation, and delivery of training and/or advanced education in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice is required. Relevant professional experience with the United Nations or similar large international organizations is required. Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Italian (host country language) is highly desirable.
