Duties and Responsibilities The Arab region is at the cusp of a demographic transition that heralds the beginning of population ageing. Recent research has highlighted the extreme vulnerability of older persons and their risk of being left behind. In 2022, ESCWA will also begin the preparations for the ICPD regional review which is scheduled in 2024. - Providing technical support to member States: ESCWA is providing technical assistance to several Member States to develop their population related policies.
