Marketing& Mobilization is a dynamic team in the External Relations department tasked with building the IRC’s global profile and brand, increasing private revenue from deeper donor engagement and partnerships, and influencing our target audiences.

Global Internal Communications, as part of the Marketing & Mobilization (M&M) team, helps the IRC achieve its strategy and goals by connecting, informing and inspiring over 16,000 employees in 40 countries in multiple languages. It does this by creating compelling content aligned to our strategy and priorities, listening to and amplifying employee voices, raising our communication capabilities, and meeting staff needs.

We are looking for a Senior Officer, Global Internal Communications, who not only has a highly creative and strategic approach to internal communications, but is also passionate about working in a global organization that is making a lasting impact.

The position reports to the Director of Internal Communications, based at our headquarters in New York.

In this role, you will conceive, develop and drive our internal global communications strategy and initiatives. With a strong focus on story-telling and relationship building, you'll make the most of multiple internal channels – from global staff meetings to our intranet to e-mail and video – to effectively connect with employees throughout the world. You will approach this work with an inclusion lens, keeping in mind the diversity of our global staff audience.

You're also an excellent writer and communicator; a creative and out-of-the-box thinker; highly strategic about messaging, timing, and communications channels; and are goal-oriented and an outstanding collaborator - gaining partnership and collaboration from others at all levels. Responsibilities -----------------

- Own end-to-end internal global communications campaigns in support of our organization's priorities - from conception and implementation to measurement and key insights. Undertake consultation with relevant stakeholders as required, to advise and ensure appropriate tools and channels are used to maximize impact - Research, analyze and implement creative solutions (tools, channels, content) to encourage active staff engagement and two-way communication across the Organization, recognizing the global and diverse nature of IRC’s work - Analyze current global internal communication channels and content, lead a review and engagement process to improve overall quality and impact. Stay up-to-date on global industry trends and continue to find ways to improve our own internal communication practices. - Own the homepage of our intranet, RescueNet, and provide updated, compelling content in collaboration with various departments across the organization - Establish appropriate RescueNet content governance, develop standard methodologies and a style guide to help site owners and content creators - Support the Internal Comms Officer, GEDI, to connect, inform and inspire our global employee audience on our global gender, equality, diversity and inclusion (GEDI) efforts - Cultivate strong internal relationships and partnerships throughout the organization. Advise various departments and units about best use of global internal communication channels for their respective projects and announcements - Define and supervise metrics to assess communications efficiency of our programs/channels to continuously improve and grow - Handle vendors and foster strong relationships e.g. intranet, email-tracking software, translations - Work in partnership with the Director of Global Internal Communications on leadership communications, as needed - Pitch in and help our team, as needed

Skills/requirements -------------------

- 5+ years’ experience in internal/corporate communications and/or marketing or public relations/journalism. Focus on employee engagement, particularly with a diversity, equality and inclusion lens, preferred. - Consistent record of implementing communications campaigns that are creative and engaging, and generate positive impact for an organization - A “big picture” problem solver, bias for taking action, loves to drive projects independently, while collaborating cross-functionally - Experience coaching executive leadership on communications - Strong presentation/mentoring skills – comfortable leading meetings, providing presentation training and prep to participants - Excellent writing abilities – flair for simple and clear writing, great grammar, and well-honed editorial skills - Data enthusiast – problem solver who can pull and analyze data to uncover opportunities that improve our internal communications efforts - Easily navigates technology - proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other desktop publishing and video editing tools. Knowledge of social media platforms/channels and experience in integrating such tools for internal communication purposes. Experience running an intranet is desirable. - Track record of handling vendors effectively - Able to build positive relationships and work in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment and to meet crisis communications and time limitations with persistence and humor - Experience in international humanitarian organizations a plus but not required - Knowledge of French, Spanish and/or Arabic is desirable but not required
