Long Description ---------------- The incumbent within delegated authority will be responsible for: - Producing monthly dashboard on unliquidated obligations and undertake necessary follow up to settle long outstanding items. - Performing monthly reconciliations, clearing travel suspense accounts, investigating anomalies, following up and taking corrective action to resolve reconciling items. - Reviewing and clearing the goods received not invoiced account. - Performing monthly reconciliations, posting and clearance for travel agency clearing account as well as taking corrective action to resolve reconciling items. - Monitor monthly reconciliation of VAT accounts for Field Offices and assist in processing VAT reimbursement request from the French authorities and follow up on all rejects and clearance of the account. - Analyzing open items on extrabudgetary projects. - Providing operational support on accounts payable matters for regularizing anomalies. - Assisting with the calculation of accruals/advances for inclusion in the financial statements. - Providing necessary support to the year-end audit process by preparing schedules and supporting documents, as and when requested. Reviewing and updating the operating manuals. - Under the advice of the Head of Unit providing guidance and interpretation of financial and accounting rules, and procedures related to A/P. - Under the advice of the Head of Unit providing guidance on the use of UNESCO Coupons. - Assisting Administrative Officers on the use of electronic tools (Contract management, Travel management, SAP modules and reporting transactions, etc. - Participating and assisting, as necessary, completion of projects related to Accounts Payable in collaboration with various stakeholders. - Act as a backup to other Senior Accounting/Finance Assistant as and when required. **COMPETENCIES (Core / Managerial)** ------------------------------------ Accountability (C) Communication (C) Innovation (C) Knowledge sharing and continuous improvement (C) Planning and organizing (C) Results focus (C) Teamwork (C) Professionalism (C) **-** ----- For detailed information, please consult the [UNESCO Competency Framework](https://en.unesco.org/sites/default/files/competency_framework_e.pdf). **REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS** --------------------------- **Education** - Completed secondary, technical or vocational Education. **Work Experience** - Minimum of 8 years of work experience in finance, administration, accounting or related areas. **Skills and Competencies** - Excellent knowledge of SAP and Excel. - Good analytical skills. - Ability to work as part of a team. - Ability to work with people from different cultural background. - Ability to work under pressure. - Service oriented. - Problem-solving, organizational and interpersonal skills. **Languages** - Excellent knowledge (spoken and written) of English and/or French and good knowledge of the other language. **DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS** ---------------------------- **Education** - Training/certification in accounting, finance or related fields would be an asset. **Work Experience** - Experience in an international organization/institution. **Skills and competencies** - Knowledge of Winshuttle and/or ALLOS. **BENEFITS AND ENTITLEMENTS** ----------------------------- UNESCO’s salaries consist of a basic salary and other benefits which may include if applicable: 30 days annual leave, family allowance, medical insurance, pension plan etc. The approximate annual starting salary for this post is 46 568 Euros.
