Organizational Setting

The FAO CSLS Security Services aims to assure a safe and secure operating environment and ensure continuity of operations in FAO headquarters and Decentralized Offices, by protecting the integrity of premises and assets and the security of personnel and other subjects present in FAO headquarters and Decentralized Offices from harmful acts and accidents or natural and technological hazards.

The post is located in Rome, headquarters.

Reporting Lines

The Security System Specialist reports to the Chief of FAO Security (CSLS) at headquarters, and works in close collaboration with the FAO IT Services Division (CSI) and the FAO Infrastructure Service (CSLI).

Technical Focus

The Security System Specialist will contribute to the review and integration of FAO physical security systems. He/she will provide his/her technical advice on the implementation of an integrated security system to optimize the effectiveness of the electronic security systems, including CCTV and alarm monitoring, video analytics and building automation. The integration of security systems will significantly enhance their effectiveness.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Identify the design of the Digital Networking Infrastructure on which the future CCTV items could be installed/replaced, according to the principles of systemic integration, redundancy, scalability and affordability;
  • coordinate and support the acquisition of the new Physical Security Control Systems (PACS), in coordination with CSLI and/or CSI for possible network or hardware modifications;
  • ensure that the digital infrastructure of the CSLS Control Room fully complies with the provided criteria and technical specifications concerning IT systems’ integration;
  • draft the tender requirements and specifications of the integration system and follow its acquisition process;
  • provide recommendations, upon request, related to the replacement of Access Control Systems in FAO Field Offices, in order to obtain immediate “economy-scale” savings and full integration with FAO Corporate Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and CSLS monitoring;
  • provide recommendations, upon request, related to the identification of the most appropriate corporate meeting registration system, together with relevant stakeholders, to be integrated with other security platforms;
  • perform any other related duties as required.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

  • University degree in security studies or other relevant field
  • At least five years of extensive relevant experience in security system implementation and integration.
  • Working knowledge of English and limited knowledge of French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese or Russian.

Technical/Functional Skills

  • Work experience in International Organizations of at least five years is desirable;
  • Demonstrated experience of at least five years or knowledge of security system equipment.
