Organizational Setting

The Department of Safeguards (SG) is the organizational hub for the implementation of IAEA safeguards. The IAEA implements nuclear verification activities for over 180 States in accordance with their safeguards agreements. The main objective of the Department is to maintain and further develop an effective and efficient verification system in order to draw independent, impartial and timely safeguards conclusions, thus providing credible assurances to the international community that States are in compliance with their safeguards obligations. Safeguards activities are undertaken within a dynamic and technically complex environment including advanced nuclear fuel cycle facilities and complemented by the political and cultural diversity of the countries.

The Department of Safeguards consists of six Divisions: three Operations Divisions for the implementation of verification activities around the world; three Technical Divisions (Division of Concepts and Planning, Division of Information Management, and Division of Technical and Scientific Services); and three Offices (the Office for Verification in Iran, the Office of Safeguards Analytical Services and the Office of Information and Communication Services).

The Division of Information Management comprises four Sections and provides the Department of Safeguards with data processing services, secure information distribution, information analysis and knowledge generation necessary to draw independent, impartial and soundly based safeguards conclusions.

Main Purpose

Under the supervision of the Team Leader (SGIM), the Safeguards Information Integration Officer contributes to the mission of the Department of Safeguards by supporting the Divisional effort to enhance the effectiveness of collection, circulation, analysis and evaluation processes for safeguards-relevant information contributing to the drawing of safeguards conclusions through the design, support and /or delivery of integrated flexible information analytics solutions.

Role

The Safeguards Information Integration Officer is: 1) a specialist in coordinating the delivery of information integration solutions and technology; 2) a team member collaborating with colleagues across the Division to understand in-depth safeguards specific information collection and analysis needs; and 3) a key contributor developing information integration capabilities for the Division in collaboration with internal and external counterparts, and supporting broader efforts to develop and improve information analytical capabilities across the Department.

Functions / Key Results Expected

  • Contribute to Divisional efforts to improve the effectiveness of information collection and analysis processes through the design of innovative approaches and models for integration tools to support safeguards business objectives.
  • Identify Division-wide information integration requirements and design and maintain a repository of cross-referenced information.
  • Develop and implement best practice recommendations, metrics, KPIs, and visualization to support the achievement of strategic goals through effective information integration.
  • Initiate and monitor the implementation of required standards, guidelines and operating procedures regarding the use of the information integration tools.
  • Support the development of the taxonomy and content management strategy to be consistent with integration requirements.
  • Coordinate integration and validation of source data between multiple systems, identifying, monitoring and measuring data integrity over time.
  • Keep up to date on emerging technologies and provide advice to management on the latest technological developments to support procurement decisions.
  • Deliver internal training for management, analysts, evaluators and other stakeholders on information integration solutions, as required.

University (Bachelor's, equivalent or higher) degree in information technology, computer systems, business management or a closely related field.

Minimum of five years of professional experience in the field of information management needs and solutions.

Experience in producing functional specifications and formulating solutions to meet user requirements and in designing cross-functional business solutions.

Excellent oral and written command of English. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.

Remuneration

The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $62120 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), a variable post adjustment which currently amounts to US $ 30812*, dependency benefits, rental subsidy, education grant, relocation and repatriation expenses; 6 weeks' annual vacation, home leave, pension plan and health insurance
