To provide support to FAO team working on the area of fisheries policy and related fisheries regulatory framework in sustainable fisheries and ecosystem preservation, community-based co-management fisheries, market, financing and infrastructure for small scale fisheries, capacity development for small scale and artisanal aquaculture and fishers as well fisheries related project management

• Provide substantive technical input for developing and support fisheries-related project proposals to be presented to donors; • Support in the design and implementation of projects within the FAO Mozambique fisheries programme; • Support in the preparation of reports and other technical documents as required; • Prepare progress reports as well as a final detailed and budgeted project proposal at the end of the assignment to be presented to the OiC FAO Mozambique; • Support the different fisheries projects when needed, such as: o GCP/GLO/080/ROK: Fisheries Co-management Capacity Development for Blue Communities: Sustainable Fisheries and Diverse Livelihoods; o GCP/SFS/005/SWE: A Partnership for Marine and Coastal Governance and Fisher-ies Management for Sustainable Blue Growth; o GCP/GLO/965/SWE: Creating an enabling environment for securing sustainable small-scale fisheries; o GCP/INT/313/SWE: Support for the implementation of the PSMA and related in-struments to combat. • Support the design of the FAO Fisheries and Aquaculture Program, through the upcoming implementation of the TCP to support the Government of Mozambique to update the Fish-eries Master Plan and project identification; • Regularly update available information and events related to fisheries and aquaculture for Mozambique with other fisheries stakeholders and organizations; • Assist in the liaison and communication between FAO and the Ministry of Sea, Inland Wa-ters and Fisheries; • Participate in the FAO program and SWIOFC team meetings; • Perform any other related duties upon instruction from the FAOR/ direct supervisor.

  • Design and formulation of project proposal for fisheries related activities, either through work history, or practical application of fieldwork.
  • Ability to effectively use standard office software, such as MS Office (Windows, Word, Outlook, Excel, Exchange) etc.

Mozambique is a family duty station. The capital, Maputo is served by international flights for Africa, Asia and Europe. Health services is comprised by Public and Private Hospitals and clinics covering most areas. There are hotels, restaurants and shopping malls comparable to African standards in general. No major security treats is observed in the Capital and other main cities, except for few petty and opportunistic incidents
