Organizational Setting

The objective of the Department of Nuclear Energy (NE) is to foster the efficient and safe use of nuclear power by supporting interested Member States in: improving the performance of nuclear power plants, the nuclear fuel cycle, and the management of nuclear wastes; catalysing innovation in nuclear power and fuel cycle technologies; developing indigenous capabilities around the world for national energy planning; deploying new nuclear power plants; preserving and disseminating nuclear information and knowledge; and advancing science and industry through improved operation of research reactors.

The department has a dynamic, participative and interactive operating environment with inputs received from the Board of Governors, the General Conference, policy and decision-makers, and technical counterparts in Member States and the international development community.

Main Purpose

Under the supervision of the Resource Mobilization Coordinator, the Resource Mobilization Associate provides assistance and support to the activities related to mobilization of extrabudgetary resources for NE projects. The Resource Mobilization Associate assists in research and analysis, review and clearance of various reports, internal documents and correspondence.

Role

The Resource Mobilization Associate is: (i) an analyst, providing background information through research on relevant issues and interaction with counterparts in house, with Member States' Permanent Missions and international organizations; (ii) a team member, assisting the Departmental Resource Mobilization Coordinator and senior professionals in the O/DDG-NE with decision-making support and in-house coordination.

Functions / Key Results Expected

  • Assist the Resource Mobilization Coordinator in researching and prioritizing the ongoing pipeline of funding prospects.
  • Track and keep up to date information on current donors, including information on new initiatives.
  • Support data analysis and research related to traditional and non-traditional donors, including maintaining databases on donor relations management, drafting routine correspondence to donors.
  • Engage with Project Managers to support their efforts in project implementation by regularly preparing financial reports and drafting narrative reports as required.

Bachelor's Degree - University degree in management, business administration, economics, social sciences, political sciences engineering or a related field.

Minimum 1 years of relevant working experience at the national or international level in providing financial, programmatic, outreach or project support. Experience in the planning, formulation, monitoring and assessment of programmes and projects in a UN context would be an advantage. Familiarity with IAEA or UN programming and financial regulations, rules and procedures would be an asset.

Excellent oral and written command of English. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.

Remuneration

The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $38172 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), a variable post adjustment which currently amounts to US $ 18971*, dependency benefits, rental subsidy, education grant, relocation and repatriation expenses; 6 weeks' annual vacation, home leave, pension plan and health insurance
