Job Summary

The Senior Caseworker will have a blended role of providing both direct service as well as supervision of staff and programming. This position will assist in conducting file review, grant reporting, outcomes monitoring, case management/coordination, back-up support to the Resettlement Supervisor, and providing leadership to the casework team. The Senior Caseworker will have a reduced caseload, with primary responsibility in leading the coordination of cases to ensure clients with significant vulnerabilities or barriers in the resettlement process are able to become self-sufficient. For unaccompanied or attached minors arriving without their parents, the Sr. Caseworker will be the main caseworker responsible their initial resettlement and adjustment. This position reports to the Resettlement Supervisor.

Major Responsibilities

· Manage initial attached unaccompanied minor resettlement cases assigned through the Reception and Placement program

· Maintain accurate and up-to date case files for all assigned clients.

· Timely, provide all core services to assigned as listed in the Reception and Placement Cooperative Agreement

· Coordinate referrals for further specialized services both within IRC and outside of IRC to ensure clients are supported as they adjust and become fully self-sufficient.

· Monitor and request direct assistance spending for clients both from among cases assigned along with cases assigned to direct reports.

· Provide leadership and training in case management through a trauma-informed and equitable gender sensitive approach.

· Ensure appropriate documentation, records, and tracking tools for case files and reporting. Create tools for staff in successful and casework delivery and documentation while also conducting regular case file audits

· Participate in monitoring and evaluation of programs, providing supervision check-ins on clients along with following up with being a contact for escalation on client on grievances or concerns.

· Track spending plans and assistance for clients, ensure donor deliverables are met, compile data and draft reports as required by donor and agency specifications.

· Assist in on-boarding and training for new hires as needed.

· Conduct performance review of/ with caseworkers on the progress of their specific cases, providing one-on-one supervision with caseworker assigned and building work and professional goals with direct report staff.

· Supervise and coordinate interns to assist caseworker throughout the department.

· Provide back up support and coverage to Resettlement Casework Supervisor when needed (ie. out of office, ill, on vacation).

· Provide recommendations for program and service improvements.

· Provide leadership in Resettlement Case management meetings, updates on cases and coordinating between Resettlement Casework Department and other departments at IRC PHX.

· Outreach to Community Partners and build new partnership in order to improve services and connections for clients.

· Abide by all IRC policies, procedures and protocols including adherence to the IRC Way and Child Safeguarding.

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Position Reports to: Resettlement Supervisor

Indirect Reports to: Sr. Direct Services Program Manager

Position Directly Supervises: 2-3 staff within the Resettlement Casework Team

Other Internal and/or External Contacts:

Internal: Housing and Logistics Coordinator, Supply Chain Specialist, Sr. Health Caseworker, Cultural Orientation staff, Resettlement Casework Assistants, Employment Staff, Integrative Services staff, and Finance Staff, and interns and volunteers within the Resettlement Department

External: Community and public partners, religious and faith-based communities, Arizona Department of Economic Security, law enforcement, schools, medical providers.

Job Requirements

· Undergraduate degree in social work or related field or equivalent work experience.

· Two+ years of professional work experience with one year of direct casework experience; preferably in a non-profit or social services environment; some supervisory/ staff oversight experience preferred

· Fluency in written and spoken English, bilingual ability preferred in Swahili, Kinyarwanda, Farsi, Dari, Arabic, French or other refugee/immigrant language used in Arizona.

· Cross-cultural understanding and strong communication skills, both written and verbal with lived experience as refugee or immigrant or in lieu of lived experience, experience working with refugees and/or immigrants or experience working cross-culturally

· Ability to prepare accurate and timely reports by timely documentation of client interactions and services provided and maintaining updated and accurate case files.

· Computer proficiency with an emphasis on Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook). Experience in web-based data entry systems and databases strongly preferred.

· Highly organized self-starter with success prioritizing multiple tasks, making critical decisions, and delivering results in a fast-paced environment with stringent deadlines

· Demonstrated ability to work as a team member in a multi-cultural environment.

· Ability to lift 35-50 pounds in assisting with setup arrangements for new arrival refugees

· Must possess or be eligible to receive a fingerprint clearance card.

· Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle with current insurance, and the ability to travel regularly throughout the service delivery area (home visits, agency visits, service provider visits etc.)

Working Environment:

Due to COVID-19, the IRC Phoenix office has only recently opened for partial staff capacity to work in the office. Thus, the position will be working mostly remote at home and with field work throughout the service delivery area all in abidance by COVID-19 safety and health guidelines.

COVID vaccination is a requirement to work at the IRC.

In the future upcoming months, the position may move to a more standard office work environment.

This position is based out of the Phoenix Office in Glendale, AZ

Travel for the provision of resettlement services can range up to a 100-mile radius from the IRC Phoenix Office location.

Work hours may vary outside of traditional work hours (early morning, evenings and weekends).

Must be able to lift 50 pounds (furniture, household supplies, and food boxes).

Will need to be comfortable driving clients in a 15-passenger van.
