Job Description

Job Overview: The Resettlement Caseworker will provide reception and placement services to newly arrived refugee families in accordance with the IRC’s Cooperative Agreement with the U.S. Department of State. They will provide comprehensive case management and monitor financial assistance throughout the eligibility period. The caseworker will meet and interact with families regularly to develop individualized service plans and conduct follow up to ensure family is accessing all relevant services.

Major Responsibilities:

· Provide trauma-informed services to newly arriving refugees and refugee families.

· Support all aspects of refugee reception, placement, and resettlement process for assigned cases.

· Provide airport reception and transport to accommodations.

· Ensure that refugees have full orientation and understanding of the use of all household appliances and safety procedures.

· Conduct regular home visits to ensure family is settling in well and needs are being met.

· Facilitate referrals with healthcare, education, employment, and financial assistance providers.

· Support refugee families in applying for relevant public benefits including social security.

· Formulate a resettlement plan taking individual goals, skills, and available resources into account.

· Maintain a casefile with all necessary documentation and accurate and complete case notes. Complete required case notes and reports on time and in compliance with requirements.

· Attend team and office meetings, participate in collective team and office efforts, comply with all IRC and local office policies and practices.

· Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

- Relevant degree or equivalent experience - Lived experience as a refugee or immigrant is preferred - In lieu of lived experience, experience working with refugees and/or immigrants; cross-cultural or overseas experience accepted - English proficiency, both spoken and written, and professional proficiency in relevant languages (i.e., Dari, Pashto, Swahili, Kinyarwanda, Tigrinya, Arabic, Ukrainian, Russian) preferred - Ability to document client interactions and services provided and maintain updated and accurate documentation. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and solid keyboarding and computer skills - Effective time management skills and ability to focus and work productively in a fast-paced environment - Demonstrated ability to work as a team member in a multi-cultural environment - Commitment to anti-racism and continual learning and growth - Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle with current insurance and ability to travel regularly throughout the service deliver area

Working Environment:

- Standard, professional office environment; in-person and remote work required. - Will require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
