As the European Union is now discussing regulation of microplastics (both intentionally and non-intentionally added: https://echa.europa.eu/hot-topics/microplastics), Surfrider Foundation Europe, along with the Rethink Plastic Alliance is trying to map the current situation in the Member States.

This overview will be extremely useful in the context of a wider internal report, and we believe the feedback of citizens to be a powerful tool to assess the recent development happening regarding the topic of microplastics. We thank you unconditionally for your time and your support.

In order to update our understanding of the situation in Romania and adapt our demands to the current situation, we are looking for the following information to be compiled in a word document:

  1. Link to the national measure(s) that was/were adopted on microplastics or if no national law was adopted;

  2. Short paragraph on where the discussion stands/ answer to the following question: were there any new developments between June 2021 and now (June 2022),

  3. Links to articles in national media on microplastics in Romania released between June 2021 and June 2022 included.

Language of the briefing document to be drafted: English or French.

Deadline: the sooner the better, at the latest Monday, August 15

We are looking for Romanian-speaking volunteers interested in doing research on national measures against microplastics and media coverage on this issue, to report them back to us in a short briefing document in English or French.
