This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

Eligibility criteria

Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.

Description of task

Under the overall guidance of the UNDP Thailand Deputy Resident Representative and direct supervision of the Chief Economist and SDGs Advisor (dual reporting), S/he will provide research and analysis for development programme analyses, papers, technical concept notes and proposals for the UNDP Thailand CO. S/he will collaborate with teams within the country office and throughout UNDP to support integrated programmatic design and implementation, representational, advocacy, partnership and communication commitments of the Thailand CO in support of the overall SDG and 2030 agenda.

1) Technical Support:

  • Conduct research on SDG related data
  • Provide research related support linked to the roll out of the Integrated National Financing Framework
  • Provide raw and substantive data research, and compile data for analysis in a systematic way;
  • Collaborate with the teams in terms of the overall approach to promotion and implementation of the sustainable development agenda, the SDGs localizations, and the roll out of the Integrated National Financing Framework in Thailand;
  • Contribute to deliver UNDP’s Human Development Report and SDG integration services in collaboration with technical experts from across UNDP’s network of capacity and in-house resources across knowledge domains (including the Accelerator Labs Network, SDG Impact, and the Country Support Platforms, Thailand’s Innovation Policy Lab) to demonstrate intersectional policy advice and integration capabilities;
  • Provide support to coordinate multi-disciplinary engagement and collaboration across the SDGs, including an in-house coordination platform for scoping and deploying technical engagements that draw from UNDP’s network of SDG advisory expertise;
  • Deliver to the Country Office programme teams to ensure that the SDGs, targets and indicators are properly inter-linked with the country programme monitoring framework and the government’s national development plan and its sectoral plans and strategies.

2) Communication and awareness raising:

  • Cooperate with the Communication team, the INFF and SDGs Integration Team, the Regional Innovation Centre team, under the guidance from the Chief Economist / SDG Advisor to develop and implement various activities aimed at promoting the SDGs agenda in Thailand and rolling out the INFF and;
  • Provide support to the Government of Thailand in communicating the INFF and SDGs achievements and challenges to various stakeholders at the national and sub-national levels.

3) Partnerships:

  • Support the Programme and Project teams to engage with national, sub-national, regional and global partners on INFF and SDGs issues;
  • Assist the Programme and Project teams to foster strategic partnerships at the national level with the UN and external institutions, including national and sub-national authorities, communities, private sector, academia, CSOs, IFIs, international organizations, media, etc.

4) Knowledge Management:

  • Support the knowledge documentation, knowledge building and sharing;
  • Cooperate in the Knowledge Management activities, help influence the INFF and SDGs,
  • Provide sound contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice.

Qualifications/Requirements

Required degree level:

Bachelor degree or equivalent

Education - Additional Comments:

Minimum Bachelor’s degree in international development, social sciences, social policy, public policy, politics, economics, development studies, business administration or related fields.

Required experience:

24 Months

Experience remark:

Candidates should possess the following expertise and qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in development areas at the national or international level;
  • Experience in providing academic support, data collection and coordination in multi-disciplinary engagement;
  • Familiarity with multi-cultural, international organisations especially in the field of development;
  • Experience in the use of computers and office software packages, experience in handling of web-based management systems;
  • Good human relationship and able to coordinate and communicate with other related agencies;
  • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel;
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision, producing quality results;
  • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;
  • Working experience with UNDP or other UN Agency will be considered as an asset;

Language skills:

  • Thai(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
  • English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
