Organizational Setting

The Department of Management’s Division of General Services (MTGS) provides support functions to the IAEA through its five Sections, namely the Archives and Records Section (ARMS), the Commissary Management Section (CMS), the Facilities Management Section (FMS), the Transport and General Support Section (TGSS), and the Seibersdorf Laboratories Services Section (SLSS). Among the five Sections, the Seibersdorf Laboratories Services Section (SLSS) provides site operation technical and administrative services to the work of the IAEA’s laboratories. SLSS services include facilities, technical, engineering, property and transport management, and site security through its management of the Seibersdorf Protective Force (SPF). The Section has a diverse complement of 35 staff, including technicians, drivers, procurement assistants and IT support. Main Purpose

Reporting to the Supervisor (Technical Support Group), Facilities Management and Engineering Unit, the Regulation Measurement Control Technician ensures proper operation of all highly sophisticated electronic systems to ensure optimized management of the technical facilities. He/she will also participate in preventive maintenance initiatives and in upgrading of all standard laboratory’s electronic installations. The Regulation Measurement Control Technician monitors and operates the technical installations and systems according to the agreed operational conditions (cooling and heating systems, air conditions, electrical and IT infrastructure, sanitary installations, exhaust systems, emergency power generators, etc.)

Functions / Key Results Expected

The Regulation Measurement Control Technician:

Programs and operates, maintains, repairs and upgrades electronic, measurement, control, and regulation software and equipment.

Regularly checks the operation and condition of electronical equipment and systems for monitoring and fault location of technical infrastructure, rectifies shortcomings in various equipment and systems.

Monitors and co-ordinates the work of the contracted companies, ensuring work is carried out with minimal disruption to the staff and operations in the Laboratories.

Carries out preventative maintenance activities, including the upgrading/reprogramming of technical infrastructure, as required by the laboratory programmes; maintains stocks of spare parts, and keeps the building automatization documentation abreast with the situation.

Conducts in-house relevant workshops, with customers to establish mutually agreed operational conditions with the focus on sustainable operational management.

Assists in the coordination of work and assignment of tasks to other electronic technicians, contracting firms and colleagues to ensure that the work is carried out with minimum interruptions to the daily operations.

Assists with planning and installation of new electronic monitoring and surveillance systems for the Seibersdorf Laboratories premises in accordance with industrial standards.

Assists and coordinates with other technical teams in SLSS to establish optimised and thus sustainable operations.

Participates in the Laboratory operation “On-Call” scheme also outside working hours.

The incumbent may perform his/her work in areas involving exposure to radioactive materials. Therefore, as an Occupationally Exposed Worker, he/she must be medically cleared by VIC Medical Service and is subject to an appropriate radiation and health monitoring programme, in accordance with the IAEA's Radiation Safety Regulations.

  • At least five years of working experience with building automatization and control systems, applying relevant software in technical control of the buildings.
  • Experience with relevant and state of the art software applications.
  • Excellent oral and written command of English and German. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.
  • English language test (Level 2) to IAEA standard.

Remuneration

The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at EUR 50249 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), 6 weeks' annual vacation, pension plan and health insurance

Appointment is subject to a satisfactory medical report. Recruitment will be on a LOCAL BASIS only.
