We are looking for a Regional Social Protection Adviser who will be a member of the Regional Programme team, and will work closely with NRC's regional and country core competency teams. The role will be responsible for implementing and refining a social protection approach and framework to NRC programming in the region. This will include technical support to country teams, capacity building for country teams and partners, conducting primary research, engaging with external stakeholders and representing NRC in regional coordination mechanisms .

What you will do:

  • Ensure compliance and adherence to NRC’s regional strategy, Head Office strategic priorities, policies and guidelines,
  • Identifying, refining and internally advocating for NRC’s niche in social protection to improve the quality of its response in the CEE country offices
  • Providing regular support to country teams to bring social protection analysis to improve the quality of NRC programmes
  • Developing social protection program guidelines and tools
  • Providing technical support and capacity building to country teams
  • Conducting primary research, such as participatory research with refugees, IDPs and host communities
  • Developing relationships and representing NRC in key (regional) forums related to social protection.
  • Contribute to and help coordinate advocacy efforts to influence policy and practice related to social protection at the national levels. This will require engaging with stakeholders and raising public awareness of social protection issues.

What you will bring:

  • Master's degree in social sciences, economics, or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience in social protection programming and advocacy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify, refine, and advocate for NRC's niche in social protection.
  • Knowledge of program management, research, and advocacy related to social protection.
  • Experience engaging with government agencies, international organizations, and civil society organizations.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills, with a decent understanding of the political, social, and economic contexts in Ukraine, Poland, Moldova, and Romania.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Knowledge of Polish or Ukrainian is an asset.
  • Ability to work with/in complex and dynamic organisations with a high degree of decentralization;
  • Skillset to engage with a variety of stakeholders and align points of view in a strategic and forward-thinking manner.
