Duties and Responsibilities Job Description:

We are looking for a React Native developer interested in building performant mobile apps on both the iOS and Android platforms. You will be responsible for architecting and building these applications, as well as coordinating with the teams responsible for other layers of the product infrastructure. Building a product is a highly collaborative effort, and as such, a strong team player with a commitment to perfection is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Build pixel-perfect, buttery smooth UIs across both mobile platforms.
  • Leverage native APIs for deep integrations with both platforms.
  • Diagnose and fix bugs and performance bottlenecks for performance that feels native.
  • Reach out to the open source community to encourage and help implement mission-critical software fixes—React Native moves fast and often breaks things.
  • Maintain code and write automated tests to ensure the product is of the highest quality.
  • Transition existing native Android and iOS applications to React Native.

    Qualifications/special skills Skills: The following are required as a minimum:

  • Solid working knowledge of Java and/or C++ programming
  • Firm grasp of the JavaScript language and its nuances, including ES6+ syntax
  • Understanding of REST APIs, the document request model, and offline storage
  • Familiarity with native build tools, like XCode, Gradle, Android Studio
  • Ability to review requirements specifications and functional design documents and to design solutions and document them.
  • Rock solid at working with third-party dependencies and debugging dependency conflicts

The following are desirable: - Ability to write well-documented, unit-testable, clean JavaScript code - Familiarity with Jira, Git and Continuous Integration/Deployment. Academic Qualifications: Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in computer science, information systems or related field. A first-level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Experience: The following are required as a minimum: - 3+ years of experience in building web applications and mobile applications on Android and iOS. - Experience with writing react-native libraries with Java and Objective-c native bindings.

The following are desirable: - Experience working both in traditional waterfall and in Agile project environments - Experience with automated testing suites, like Jest or Mocha - Experience with Flow-type, Typescript and Mobx. Language: Fluency in English (verbal and written) is required.
