This is a UNV International Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as International UN Volunteer. It is normally internationally recruited only. More about UNV International Specialist contracts.

Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of UN Head of Resident Coordinator Office or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer PSEA Coordinator will:

  • Support the ongoing assessment of SEA risks and situation: In collaboration with the PSEA Taskforce and agency PSEA Focal Points, conduct a joint PSEA risk assessment to inform the Resident Coordinator, UNCT and humanitarian and development partners on strategic decision-making.
  • Support coordination mechanisms on PSEA: Foster linkages and information-sharing on PSEA, consisting of membership from UN agencies, international and national non-governmental organizations, and government stakeholders. This includes among others, reviewing the PSEA Network TORs and its Action Plan as well as its implementation, based upon the risk assessment and relevant global guidance.
  • Contribute towards the establishment/strengthening of an Inter-agency Complaints Mechanism: Develop a strategy to map existing complaint and feedback mechanisms (CFMs) in Indonesia to identify where there are gaps in gaps in access to report sensitive complaints, to understand preferences in reporting sensitive allegation, at community and other level and to understand community preferences in reporting sensitive allegations.

Educational additional comments

  • Master’s degree in Law, International Relations, Development Studies and Planning or a related field from an accredited academic institution with seven years of relevant professional experience; or
  • University degree in the above fields with nine years of relevant professional experience.

Experience remark

  • Work experience from a humanitarian setting with relevant professional experience in the field of sexual exploitation and abuse, protection, gender-based violence, staff misconduct and discipline, gender mainstreaming and/or humanitarian affairs;
  • Previous experience working on prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse;
  • Experience working in the IASC or in other inter-agency bodies or processes;
  • Experience working in humanitarian emergencies;
  • Experience working with National NGOs;
  • Experience working South East Asia is an advantage.

Language skills

  • English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
  • Indonesian(Optional), Level - Working Knowledge
