Protocol Specialist
Organizational Setting
The Regional Office for RNE is responsible for leading FAO’s response to regional priorities for food security, agriculture
and rural development through the identification, planning and implementation of FAO’s priority activities in the region. It
ensures a multidisciplinary approach to programmes, identifies priority areas of action for the Organization in the Region
and, in collaboration with departments and divisions at Headquarters, develops, promotes and oversees FAO's strategic
response to regional priorities. RNE also advises on the incorporation of regional priorities into the Organization’s
Programme of Work and Budget and implements approved programmes and projects in the region, monitors the level of
programme implementation and draws attention to problems and deficiencies. RNE develops and maintains relations with
region-wide institutions including the Regional Economic Integration Organizations (REIOs).
The Regional Office supports regional policy dialogue on food security, agriculture and rural development issues, facilitates
the emergence of regional partnerships, and supports capacity development and resource mobilization for food security,
agriculture and rural development in the region.
Reporting Lines
Under the overall guidance of Senior Administrative Officer, the direct supervision of National Professional Officer (Administration) and in close cooperation with all RNE administrative and substantive units.
Technical Focus
Provides support to all RNE/FAO units to on protocol matters.
Tasks and responsibilities
Receive, review and screen all incoming protocol related correspondence/documents and take necessary action as required in consultation with the supervisor/official concern either Programme/Admin/Operation;
Support on protocol related matters for the mission/international consultants/staff (Hotel reservation, arrange transport service, Airport pick up and drop etc.);
Support on making liaison with different ministries/departments (Foreign affairs, Civil aviation authority, Custom, on various clearance & protocol related activities;
Support & coordinate on preparation of Visa, Customs pass book etc.;
Assist to prepare the different letters/documents & routine correspondence related to the clearances of the goods and equipment from the custom authority.
Provide assistance on various meetings, workshops, seminars of particularly on logistics.
Assist to take the notes during the meetings & prepare the draft minutes of the meeting;
Prepare & maintain the database of all incoming & outgoing mission;
Undertake the renewal/registrations of car licences with the authorities concerned;
Perform any other duties given by the authority.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in any discipline from any reputed university, candidates with Master Degree will get preference.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the relevant field.
- Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.);
- Experience in handling of web-based management systems.
- Fluency in English.
- National of Egypt or resident in the country with a regular work permit.
