Result of Service- Studies, reports, training materials, background papers and other substantive products under the project are prepared and published in time and in consideration of the respective ESCWA procedures and processes. - Meetings, conferences, seminars, workshops, etc. including the development of background documentation, meeting notes/reports, travel arrangements etc. are prepared in time and in consideration of the respective ESCWA procedures and processes. - Key partners, clients, and consultants to facilitate the implementation of the program are informed/followed-up with and/or contracted in time and in consideration of the respective ESCWA procedures and processes. - Accurate budgets and related documents/reports are prepared in time and in consideration of the respective ESCWA procedures and processes. - Payments to vendors and individual contractors, recruitment of project personnel are prepared in time and in consideration of the respective ESCWA procedures and processes. - Other duties to support the team as required are performed in time and at times proactively.

Work Location Beirut

Expected duration 6 months initially with the option of a 3-month extension.

Duties and Responsibilities Background:

ESCWA's Section on Social Protection implements the Comprehensive Social Protection Reform Support Programme. The program supports Arab countries social protection reforms by providing demand oriented, tailored technical support as well as support based on standardized templates and implementation process as well as sophisticated analytical tools and approaches. Amongst others, the programs seek to establish comprehensive national social protection systems and reforms country profiles as well as implement analytical research and related capacity development measures (i.e. trainings). This requires the regular preparation of contracts for external service providers and individual contractors as well as frequent preparation of external and internal meetings and workshops, including travel arrangements. Moreover, the program aims at publishing reports and policy briefs, which require administrative coordination and support.

In this context ESCWA is seeking the services of an Individual Contractor (IC) in the function of an administrative assistant, to work with the social protection project team.

Duties and responsibilities:

- Contributing to the development of a variety of studies, reports, training materials, background papers and other substantive products under the project. - Providing administrative servicing to meetings, conferences, seminars, workshops, etc. including the development of background documentation, keeping notes during meetings and preparing meeting reports we well as prepare travel arrangements for meeting participants etc. - Working with key partners and clients to facilitate the implementation of the project; liaising with relevant parties; identifying and tracking follow-up actions. - Coordinating activities related to budget and preparation of related documents/reports. - Performing related administrative tasks (e.g. monitor accounts and payments to vendors and individual contractors, recruitment of project personnel). - Contributing to the overall implementation of the Comprehensive Social Protection Reform Support Programme and providing other substantive and administrative inputs. - Performing other duties to support the team as required.

Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: A first level university degree in political science, sociology, social sciences, economics, public administration, or other related academic background is required. A master's degree is desirable. Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experiences in project management and office management programs, (ideally within the UN) are required. Language: Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic is required. Knowledge of French is desirable.
