ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

This job is found in field office. Job holders typically report to a Programme Policy Officer or Head of Field Office. At this level, job holders are expected to demonstrate responsibility and initiative to respond independently to various queries with only general guidance. There is a requirement to use judgment in dealing with unforeseen operational problems on a daily basis. Job holders are expected to manage resources and coach and coordinate support staff.

JOB PURPOSE

To provide effective specialized support and technical analyses to policy and programme activities that effectively meet food assistance needs.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  1. Support the roll out of the school meal transition road map at provincial and district level providing coordinating support between WFP, MOES and other stakeholders.
  2. Support DESB and PESS authorities to develop and implement robust monitoring and reporting system for NSMP with relevant indicators, reporting tools and joint field visit plans.
  3. Assist DESB and PESS authorities in planning, implementing and monitoring the school feeding activities in the province and districts
  4. Coordinate WFP technical assistance to strengthen community ownership of SLP through PESS & DESB authorities.
  5. Assist education authorities at district and provincial level to identify areas to be supported for implementing fully nationally owned SLP.
  6. Organize joint visits with PESS and DESB authorities in field visits to project locations, schools and beneficiaries to identify ground level challenges in implementing SLP and support to bring them to the attention of the central government authorities to find suitable solutions.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of university degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Agrilcuture and other related functional area. Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in the UN language in use at the duty station and in the duty station’s language, if different

DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE

  • At least 6 years experience related to programme implementation with development sector•
  • Has worked with technical teams (i.e. nutrition, VAM, etc.).
  • Has contributed to implementation of programmes.
  • Has observed or assisted with policy discussions.
