You have:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree with 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in procurement analysis, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of Bank procurement system (STEP) and data analytics will be an added advantage.
  • Proven experience working with the STEP system in procurement activities.
  • Advanced data analysis skills, with expertise in Excel, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or other data analysis tools.
  • Excellent presentation skills using PowerPoint and or advanced graphics skills.
  • Good knowledge of Procurement Regulations and procedures, particularly in the context of World Bank or multilateral development bank projects.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex data to non-technical stakeholders clearly and effectively.
  • Familiarity with project management tools and processes used in World Bank-funded projects is desirable.

The Institutions Global Department comprises a variety of different professional disciplines working on public institutions, including procurement, public sector management, governance and anti-corruption, and financial management. The Procurement Department convenes a leading group of practitioners focused on advancing cutting-edge practices and innovations in the fields of procurement, anti-corruption and open government. To enhance its capacity, the Department seeks to recruit/appoint a highly organized, energized and experienced professional, capable of operating effectively.

The Eastern and Southern Africa (AFE) Region’s Procurement Unit is largely decentralized and based in the 20+ country offices. The Procurement team in AFE is managed by an Accredited Practice Managers (PM) who is based at Nairobi and Pretoria. AFE Procurement Unit seeks to recruit a locally hired Procurement Analyst t to be based in Pretoria, South Africa to provide support South Africa CMU and support APM monitor procurement progress and support STEP in 14 countries covered by the APM (and other countries in AFE as decided by APM). The Procurement Analyst will work with Procurement Team Leaders for 3 Africa South CMUs and will report to the AFE Accredited Practice Manager based Pretoria.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

- Supports APM office to monitor and report progress of procurement implementation and post reviews - Conducts post procurement reviews under the supervision of accredited procurement specialist for the South Africa CMU countries - Conducts fiduciary reviews based on the level of accreditation approved by the Chief Procurement Officer. - STEP champion for Africa South: Supporting external Clients (PIUs) and internal clients on implementation of STEP including training, trouble shooting and updates - Market research: Conducts desktop market research on bidder participation in AFR south countries and provides database of suppliers to procurement specialist on request based on STEP data - STEP Procurement Reports: Regular procurement reports and progress tracking based on data generated from STEP, highlighting procurement timelines, milestones, and challenges. - Procurement Dashboards: Interactive dashboards that track procurement performance indicators, procurement stages, and supplier metrics. - Custom Data Reports: Detailed analytical reports (ad-hoc and regular) providing insights into procurement efficiency, cost-savings opportunities, and supplier performance. - Provides support to coordinating procurement specialists for quarterly regional newsletters - Supports APM office on market engagement activities - Supports APM in organizing knowledge exchange workshops and regional level training.

Selection Criteria

Education:

- Minimum of 2 years of experience in procurement analysis, or a related field, with a specific focus on data analysis and reporting. - Proven experience working with the STEP system in procurement activities (e.g., tracking procurement progress, managing procurement documents, supplier performance monitoring). - Advanced data analysis skills, with expertise in Excel, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or other data analysis tools. - Excellent presentation skills using PowerPoint and or advanced graphics skills - Good knowledge of Procurement Regulations and procedures, particularly in the context of World Bank or multilateral development bank projects. - Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex data to non-technical stakeholders clearly and effectively. - Project Management: Familiarity with project management tools and processes used in World Bank-funded projects is desirable.
