Org. Setting and Reporting The Printing Centre Supervisor reports to the Head Travel and Administrative Services Section.

Responsibilities- Plans and manages the day-to-day operations of the Printing Centre; supervises the technical performance of the staff therein, including printing, scanning, coding, indexing, collating and organizing, ensuring confidentially, appropriate and timely production and dispatching of printed materials;

- Is responsible for the Printing Centre budget, observing appropriate expenditure and discusses annual financial needs/ running issues with his/her supervisor; supervises inventory of supplies and equipment, including planning and coordinating with other Departments their ordering; oversees their storage and usage control;

- Monitors the Printing Centre machinery operations, ensuring smooth and quality production; manages their maintenance contract, coordinates with contractor their routine and ad-hoc maintenance, certifies maintenance jobs and orders spare parts, when needed; makes servicing/replacement proposal, based on their life history, to ensure their usage efficiency;

- Coordinates with HQA Departments/ Jordan Fields the schedules for the printing and scanning of materials; establishes and updates the price list of photocopying and scanning tasks according to the requested specifications, and supervises their appropriate charges;

- Supervises the Printing Centre database and the Archiving System, ensuring appropriate storage and retrieval; coordinates with IMTD systems’ development and maintenance;

- Keeps abreast of the modern technologies in relation to photocopying and scanning techniques; makes proposals to introduce new modern production technologies to improve the quality and speed of work; recommends most suitable and economical method of document production while ensuring quality and quantity are considered;

- Supervises compliance with health and safety requirements in relation to equipment operation with due regard to personnel safety and accident/breakdown prevention; provides on the job training and advice to the Printing Centre staff;

- May conduct one or more of the production operations by him/herself, in support of the team, when the work warrants.

Education A university degree from an accredited educational institution in computer technology, library science or any other related subject.

Work Experience At least three years’ experience in administrative work related to the production of documents of a similar nature including the usage of digital photocopiers/canners.

At least two years should have been at a supervisory level.

Languages Good command of written and spoken English and Arabic.

Assessment Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.

Type of Contract: Fixed Term Appointment.

Duration of Contract: 3 years including 1 year probation period, with the possibility of further extension, subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance and continuing need.

The Printing Centre Supervisor may be required to work outside UNRWA regular working hours.

A roster may be created from the selection exercise, and successful candidates may become eligible for appointment to the same post or a similar post.

Equivalency: When the minimum requirements are not fully met, the Director of Human Resources may exceptionally substitute part of the unmet requirements with a combination of relevant academic qualifications and progressive relevant work experience.

NB: Work experience alone or formal qualifications with no relevant work experience are not considered an acceptable combination.
