Job Summary

The Coordination and Planning Specialist will provide strategic and operational support to the Director, DMS acting as a key interface with units within and outside the Division in regards to DMS's planning and implementation of annual activities; formulation and drafting of DMS position papers and statements; special projects; internal change management and wider UN reform matters and internal communications initiatives. The incumbent will provide substantive analysis and advice on corporate processes and policy as well as on UNFPA and interagency work requiring the Director's involvement.

Qualifications and Experience

Education:

Master's degree in public administration, management, finance, accounting or equivalent. A Bachelor's degree with suitable professional accreditation e.g. CPA, ACA would be considered equivalent.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Five years professional experience in financial and relevant operational/management areas, preferably with exposure to the UN system in a field setting.
  • Extensive experience in strategic planning and project management with cross-functional teams in an international setting.
  • Advanced writing, presentation and communication skills.
  • Experience in designing and implementing innovation, communications and/or knowledge management strategies is an asset.
  • Familiarity with UN reform processes and UNFPA's policies, programmes and procedures is a plus.

Languages:

Fluency in English; knowledge of other official UN languages is desirable.
