Job Description

Working under the guidance and supervision of the Pharmacy Technician, the Pharmacy Assistant is responsible for providing a variety of services related to the daily operation of a pharmacy under the direct supervision and guidance of the pharmacy technician.

Specific Responsibilities

- Dispense the medicines prescribed by the doctor to the patients - Ensure patients receive the right medication which has been prescribed by the doctor - Record and document the drug consumption tally sheet on daily bases - Prepare and submit weekly and monthly drug consumption reports to the pharmacy technician - With the support of the pharmacy technician ensure that all medical supplies including drugs are entered in the pharmacy stock cards - Maintain stock in and out system regularly - Ensure that all drugs are kept at a relevant temperature and distributed via FEFO system - Inform the pharmacy technician about shortage of medical supplies including medicines’ expiry dates or those damaged. - Maintain up to date record of all medical supplies/drugs in the pharmacy - Ensure proper storage of all items as per their specific storage requirements

- Advise on any relevant pharmaceutical issue when called upon to do so - Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

1. Diploma/Certificate in Pharmaceutical Technology equivalent, preferably with technical knowledge in drug supply chain management systems and quality assurance. 2. Registered by the relevant and credible body or graduated from an accredited institution 3. Minimum three (3) years of working experience in a hospital/health facility set-up. 4. Fluent in English and Somali
