This is a UNV International Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as International UN Volunteer. It is normally internationally recruited only. More about UNV International Specialist contracts.

Eligibility criteria

Minimum age: 25 years old. Nationals of the country of assignment are not eligible, except the assignments in Headquarters duty stations.

Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Partnerships Manager or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer Partnerships Officer will:

Resource Mobilization

  • Support proposal writing as requested, this includes:
  • Preparing proposal and concept note templates
  • Preparing budgets and ensuring they reflect office priorities and adhere to corporate standards
  • Provide inputs as necessary and provide quality assurance on inputs received from programme colleagues

Monitor funding needs in coordination with the Partnerships Manager and Heads of Section

  • Record and track pipeline funding and incoming grants
  • Provide Ad hoc support for donor events, meetings, etc.
  • Prepare briefing notes for donor meetings
  • Update Donor Profiles/briefing notes to include key information on results of partnership with donors, overview of funds received, broader strategy considerations including areas of interest.

Grant management and donor reporting:

  • Overall and as requested, provide quality assurance on documents produced by Partnerships Unit.
  • Support the unit’s role in grant management, this includes:
  • Monitoring and communicating with programme teams on grant conditions
  • Support donor led TPM interactions, provide follow up with programme colleagues as needed
  • Monitor grant utilization and provide regular updates and alerts to Partnerships Manager for onward action
  • As requested, support donor specific grant management
  • Contribute to timely and quality donor reporting. This includes gathering of information, consolidation, editing, layout and branding of all required reports on contributions to Yemen. In reviewing the reports, ensure compliance with donor requirements, quality of data and systematic results-based reporting.
  • This will include, working with programme sections to submit donor reports in line with donor requirements:
  • Share templates for donor reporting with teams
  • Provide guidance on reporting requirements for the various donors
  • Verification of expenditures against planned budget as part of the reporting of the grants
  • Ensure clearance of donor reports using the Standard Operating Procedure.
  • Ensure timely submission of donor reports to donors/and or to PPD, as appropriate.
  • Ensure the updating and maintaining of information relating to all the donor and programme reporting requirements and liaise with PPD and PFP for any necessary amendments.
  • Monitor and communicate visibility requirements and follow up with programme and communications teams to ensure that timely content is produced, in line with agreed upon workplans.

Qualifications/Requirements

Required degree level:

Master degree or equivalent

Education - Additional Comments:

  • Advanced University Degree in social sciences, business administration, public policy, journalism or a related science relevant to the work of UNICEF. A first level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Required experience:

Experience remark:

  • Minimum three years of professional work experience at the international and national level in the field of development and/or emergency programming with demonstrated experience in reporting, fundraising, monitoring of programme implementation, and/or communication.
  • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills;
  • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners; familiarity with tools and approaches of remote working;
  • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel;
  • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment;
  • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;
  • Have affinity with or interest in child rights, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.
