BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT: The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate. WFP is the world’s largest humanitarian organization, saving lives in emergencies and using food assistance to build a pathway to peace, stability and prosperity for people recovering from conflict, disasters and the impact of climate change. Around 20,000 people work for the organization, most of them in remote areas, directly serving the hungry poor.

To reach a world with zero hunger, WFP is investing in and growing private sector fundraising and partnerships. ShareTheMeal is WFP’s fundraising and awareness-raising app. Free to download, the award-winning app is a pioneering way for people to join our efforts in creating a world with zero hunger.

ShareTheMeal currently has more than 8 million users worldwide, who have shared more than 150 million meals (US$ 80 million). WFP is pursuing an ambitious growth strategy for individual giving, and ShareTheMeal is a key driver for this strategy going forward. The team, located in Berlin, is focused on further developing the app to include new and innovative features, and on increasing the engagement of existing users and growing the user base through marketing and communication initiatives.

ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: The Consultant, reporting to the Head of Growth & Marketing of ShareTheMeal, is expected to:

Manage the paid marketing strategy

• Define the strategy for ShareTheMeal’s global paid channels and mix by country and audience

• Review channel mix based on ROAS performance and OKRs

• Implement, deliver, monitor, analyze and optimize current campaigns, of each channel, optimizing performances, on a regular basis

• Evaluate new channels and define launch to increase audiences and countries, such as Pinterest, Spotify, Reddit, LinkedIn, Twitch, Video Ad Networks and others

• Select new channels, evaluate the affinity and potential for the coming years, and prepare documentation for approval by WFP procurement

• Handle onboarding for new channels and coordinate with ShareTheMeal’s tech, content and product team (i.e. tracking

Manage paid marketing budget

• Manage the paid marketing budget, controlling spend, forecasting allocation by month, quarter and platform, supporting as a focal point the Finance team to track

Support the creative marketing strategy

• Define plans for structured testing to improve advertising efficiency and scale for all markets (creatives, landing pages, audiences, bidding, etc.)

• Support the preparation of a continuously refreshed portfolio of concepts/creative ideas, including working with external agencies

• Continuous refreshment of ads with A/B tests based on results

• Differentiate the creative approach by channel and by country

Manage ASO activities

• Coordinate the ASO activities for both Play and App Store, including with external agencies, to improve the performance doing keyword optimization and running A/B tests on storefront screenshots

Support SEM optimisation

• Execute tests, collect and analyze data and results, identify trends and insights in order to achieve maximum ROI in paid search campaigns

• Support with the optimization and scaling of existing channels, mainly Facebook ads

Other

• Stay abreast of sector trends in major donor fundraising

• Work with our existing global systems, policies, and processes to deliver the objectives of this role in a compliant, collaborative, and efficient way.

DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:

- Paid media global strategy is developed and implemented successfully

- Media budget is optimized to an ROAS goal and OKRs

- Creative is supported with tests and learnings

- Play and App Store presence is optimized through continuous testing

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Education: Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree is preferred

Experience: 2-3 years of relevant national or international experience in Marketing, Brand management or Communications, work experience with non-profit brand management is a strong advantage.

Knowledge & Skills:

- Strong understanding of aesthetics in social media, product, web design and online marketing

- Experience with attribution solutions (Adjust, AppsFlyer, kochava, etc)

- Strong project management skills

- Strong analytical abilities, both quantitative and qualitative; ability to produce high-quality written materials

- Mature judgment with strong interpersonal skills

- Collaborative spirit able to liaise with a wide range of people at all levels and across different cultures and to act with credibility and diplomacy

- Strong time management skills with an ability to plan ahead, anticipate requirements, problems and obstacles, and an ability to juggle competing priorities successfully, and to work to tight deadlines

- Self-motivated and able to work with a high degree of autonomy

- Fully committed and motivated to achieve the aims of the World Food Programme

Languages: High proficiency in written and spoken English required, knowledge of other UN languages is a plus
