Organizational Setting

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations. With presently 194 member states, FAO works in more than 130 countries worldwide, including Vietnam, where the Organization has operated since 1978. The current Country Programming Framework (CPF) for the period of 2022‑2025 has four priority areas: (1) One Health (OH); (2) Climate change response, environment and natural resources management; (3) Food safety, sustainable production and consumption, and equitable livelihoods for all; and (4) Governance, Gender and PWDs. The incumbent’s tasks will mainly contribute to the fourth priority area.

Reporting Lines

The incumbent will work under the overall guidance of the FAO Representative in Viet Nam, under the direct supervision of the ECTAD Senior Technical Coordinator of the Emergency Center for Transboundary Animal Disease (ECTAD) in Viet Nam, and in close collaboration with FAO Viet Nam and relevant government partners.

Technical Focus

One Health

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Assist the Department of Animal Health (DAH) to implement One Health activities, and One Health Partnership (OHP) master plan 2021-2025 in Viet Nam such as the Joint risk assessment (JRA)
  • Develop One Health surveillance programme for priority zoonoses in Viet Nam with integrated zoonoses in human, animal and environment information
  • Support DAH activities to control zoonoses and prevent future pandemics in collaboration with government and development partners;
  • Perform other related duties as required.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in veterinary medicine;
  • At least 2 years of relevant working experience in the development and implementation of multi-sectoral activities;
  • Working knowledge (level C) and excellent writing skills in both English and Vietnamese;
  • National or Resident of Viet Nam.
