Overview

Manage nutrition program and coordinate with government for stunting reduction.

You have:

  • At least 5 years’ experience designing and implementing multi-sector nutrition programs.
  • Masters (MSc) in Nutrition or related field, with an emphasis on community nutrition, public health nutrition, SBCC, or other relevant sub-specialty.
  • Essential Technical Knowledge of the theories, principles, methods and practices in areas like Public Health & Nutrition, Policy and Management.
  • Ability to travel to implementation project areas; Banten, Jawa Timur, Kalimantan Barat and Nusa Tenggara Timur is a must.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and writing in English is a must.

Job Purpose :

The Nutrition Specialist will manage the oversight of the development of a national multisector stunting reduction program of the USAID PASTI program nationally, providing central-level coordination with the related ministry (i.e Health Ministry, BKKBN, etc) and providing capacity building for project staffs on nutrition and stunting programming.

Strategy Development & Planning

  • Develop and implement a rolling for 4 years Nutrition (including geographic and sectoral priorities, key advocacy issues, funding growth plan and networks) which is aligned to National and Partnership strategy.
  • Develop, implement and monitor annual Nutrition programme for PASTI Project including budget and key health milestones
  • Develop, implement and evaluate research related to Nutrition WVI service areas
  • Support Grants, Senior Program Manager, Team Leader of PASTI project, to develop, implement and monitor projects and including budget and key health milestones.
  • Contribute to ongoing development and implementation of WVI National level Strategy of PASTI Project

Resource Acquisition & Management

  • Provide support planning framework into strategic planning and financial frameworks
  • Collect all related information on government and its planning and policies that are important and needed for our WVI and WVI’s operation
  • Support Operations team and Nutrition interventions to ensure cost-effectiveness of interventions and to identify ways to leverage PASTI project.
  • Support Senior Program Manager and Grants to monitor annual budget in alignment with National and Provinces Strategy; and priorities.

Capacity Building

  • Facilitate team to develop and maintain good relationship with related government institutions in order to get their supports.
  • Initiate needed trainings and workshops including to subgrantee
  • Work with DME to strengthen monitoring processes in an agreed timeline
  • Learnings from the field inform national-level approach and programming guidelines
  • Support the National and Provinces team to have trained with basic Nutrition and competencies: Develop a standard for provinces to define basic Nutrition competencies and training modules to improve competencies and related trainings for Operating model partners

Accountability & Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure that related government get understanding of WV and its ministry appropriate
  • Ensure the government annual report and others provided.
  • Ensure the government adoption of best project’s governance practises, systems, mechanisms, reports, policy recommendations and any other products.
  • Contribute to the processes of planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation are performed on time and with high quality in national level.
  • Prepare nutrition part documentation and reporting at national level to ensure all required report are submitted on time, accurate, and complete.
  • Ensure each provinces to continually monitor Nutrition that they meet Wahana Visi Indonesia and USAID standards.
  • Assist Senior Program Managers in the preparation of professional and high quality report and end of project reports as required by WVI, government, donors, and others
  • Contribute to documentation, learning and accountability process (assessment, baseline, reflection, evaluation including track progress).
  • Work closely with other specialist, unit and department to ensure data are well disseminated and used.

Networking & Coordination:

  • Develop the network and manage good relationship with all government institutions especially with the related ones in order to achieve project’s goal
  • Develop dynamic relationships with the Ministry of Health and other health institutions and other related institution at National and Provincial levels.
  • Enhance relations with government, donors, supporters, and WVI support offices to increase credibility of PASTI programme.
  • Identify advocacy issues and support WVI’s and Partnership advocacy initiatives for improved PASTI programme at local, and national.
  • Contribute to partnership learning for Nutrition.
  • Represent the organization to internal and external stakeholders meeting at national and regional as appropriate
  • Advocate for PASTI Project and Wahana Visi Indonesia at the national level through strategic relationships, position papers and policy briefs, and collaboration with relevant ministries.

Management & Leadership:

  • Represent the organization to attend the government meeting as necessary
  • Provide monthly report.
  • Build and maintain positive spirit of working in team with other staff in respective unit and department

  • Ensure alignment to safeguarding of program activities
  • Coordination and work planning with other specialists to ensure program implementation as standard.

Required Professional Experience

  • At least 5 years’ experience designing and implementing multi-sector nutrition programs.
  • Prior field experience in the prevention of malnutrition and under-nutrition and a strong understanding of nutrition and related policies, strategies and programs. Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification
  • Masters (MSc) in Nutrition or related field, with an emphasis on community nutrition, public health nutrition, SBCC, or other relevant sub-specialty.
  • Essential Technical Knowledge of the theories, principles, methods and practices in one of the following areas: Public Health & Nutrition, International Health & Nutrition, Policy and Management, Emergency Preparedness, Nutritional Epidemiology.

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated significant expertise providing technical assistance to project/host country government staff working on nutrition and SBCC activities
  • Proven ability to work effectively with a wide range of partners with varying interests and priorities in the fields of nutrition
  • Excellent inter-personal, communication and facilitation skills
  • Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement Ability to travel to implementation project area; Banten, Jawa Timur, Kalimantan Barat and also Nusa Tenggara Timur is a must.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and writing in English is a must.
