Organizational Setting

FAO's office for Yemen is responsible for developing, promoting, overseeing and implementing agreed strategies for addressing countrywide food, agriculture and rural development priorities under Yemen. It develops and maintains relations with the relevant Ministries at country level. This position is based in FAO Representation in Sanaa, Yemen. The main aim of the FAO country offices, which are headed by an FAO Representative, is to assist governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner.

Reporting Lines

Nutrition Analyst – will be under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Yemen, general supervision of Head of Programs and under the technical and direct supervision of the International Nutrition Officer.

Technical Focus

Nutrition Analyst – will provide supportive role on Yemen’s work on Nutrition capacity building, value chain development and promotion of household food production, meals and diet diversification.

Tasks and responsibilities

  1. Support nutrition capacity building among FAOYE staff,
  2. Support mainstreaming nutrition across FAOYE strategic documents, projects and programs,
  3. Support in Training and capacity building of partners and government on nutrition sensitive agriculture programming,
  4. Support partners in implementing nutrition sensitive interventions,
  5. Promote Social Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) (Including nutrition education) in FAOYE program interventions at community level,
  6. Collaborate with other FAOYE sectors in setting up, training and supporting producer groups/cooperatives and other associations or enterprise groups along the key value chains,
  7. Support documentation of good practices across different nutrition sensitive projects.
  8. Perform other related duties assigned by the Supervisor

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor university degree in nutrition, nutrition policy, Public Health, Dietetics, food studies, food science, food technology, food engineering or other relevant fields;
  • At least 5 years working experience working on nutrition sensitive agricultural programmes and supporting Nutrition sector in Yemen.
  • Extensive experience in project management and capacity development in Nutrition, Agriculture and livestock sector.
  • Proficiency in standard computer software
  • National of Yemen
