This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

The UN Bangladesh has collaborated with Organizations working for Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) and the government, in accelerating the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and disability inclusive Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

To further strengthen the collaboration, UN agencies working on this area, participated in the UNPRPD funded project in 2020. Expression of Interest (EoI) was developed by UN task team in Bangladesh (coordinated by UNRCO and comprised of the ILO, UNICEF, UNDP, UNFPA and UN Women), in consultation with OPDs. EoI from Bangladesh was nominated by the UN Partnership to Promote the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNPRPD) Secretariat followed by implanting an inception phase.

The inception phase consisted of conducting an induction training with OPDs, government and other key stakeholders and participating UN agencies in Bangladesh. A situation analysis was conducted in consultation with participating stakeholders and based on the findings the project proposal was developed along with log frame, results matrix and workplan. After the approval of the final proposal, three UN agencies (UN Women, UNICEF, and ILO) will implement the UNPRPD funded project for 24 months.

Under the direct supervision of Programme Specialist, EVAW, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

a) Provide support for UNPRPD funded project implementation, strategic and co-ordination of partnerships of UN Women BCO

• Provide support to the BCO responsible party of the UNPRPD project to develop and implement the annual workplan; undertake regular planning exercises, review activities as necessary to achieve project outputs, monitor and capture lessons learned and alternative approaches and methods.

• Develop Terms of Reference for project related research work commissioned by BCO for the UNPRPD funded project

• Work closely with OPDs, representatives of workers, employers, government, NGOs, donors, civil society, research agencies for implementation of the UN-PRPD funded project.

• Contribute to dialogues with partners to improve disability inclusive policies and practice

• Provide support and participate in the preparation of learning and sharing seminars, workshops, training sessions and meetings.

• Identify best practices and lessons learnt from the UNPRPD funded project. Establish networks and contribute knowledge sharing activities including internal communications and knowledge building within UN Women and other participating UN agencies.

• Participate in interagency meetings and UN task team to sure UN Women’s interests are reflected in joint activities.

• Liaison with UNICEF and ILO on operational and programmatic issues, activities, and collaboration.

b) Provide effective support in tracking of the budget expenditure, in accordance with UN Women rules and policies

• Support to project manager for formulation of workplan and budget.

• Support to review and verify financial transactions/ activities/documentation for accuracy, appropriateness and completeness and ensure full compliance of financial services and transactions with UN Women rules, regulations, poli-cies and recording and reporting systems

• Support to monitor proper follow up of advances to implementing partners, re-view their financial reports together with project managers and together be fully satisfied before making next instalment.

• Support to track and report on program and operational financial resources.

c) Provide support to BCO Disability Inclusion team to implement workplan and development of training materials

• Conduct procurement process for recruitment of implementing parties for implementation of UNPRPD funded project.

• Research and develop training materials keeping in mind the adapted materials are accessible by PWDs and can be utilized in future.

• Work closely with BCO task team to support capacity development training for BCO personnel.

providing support to the partnership management, financial management, and project / programme support in implementation of project activities.

• Experience in gender equality and empowerment of women, especially with women with disabilities and in the area of gender equality and empowerment of women. • Experience in usage of computer and software packages and advance knowledge of spreadsheet, handling of web-based management system • Working experience in UN System or other international organizations with Persons with Disabilities will be considered as asset. • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and Bangla.
