**OVERVIEW** ------------ Parent Sector : Culture Sector (CLT) Duty Station: Ukraine Classification of duty station: \[\[filter12\]\] Standard Duration of Assignement : \[\[filter13\]\] Job Family: Culture Type of contract : Non Staff Level : Level 5 Duration of contract : From 7 to 11 months Recruitment open to : Internal and external candidates Application Deadline (Midnight Paris Time) : 29-03-2023 UNESCO Core Values: Commitment to the Organization, Integrity, Respect for Diversity, Professionalism **OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST** ----------------------------------------- Under the overall authority of the Assistant Director-General for Culture, the general supervision of the Director of World Heritage and the Director of the Culture and Emergencies Entity, and the direct supervision of the UNESCO Liaison Officer in Kyiv, the contract holder will work in close coordination with the rest of the project team at UNESCO Headquarters and Kyiv Desk, with a view to facilitate the implementation of the activities of the UNESCO/Japan Funds-in-Trust project ‘Support for Ukraine in culture and education through UNESCO: Emergency response for World Heritage and cultural property: damage assessment and protection’ in Ukraine”. Specifically, the incumbent will: Long Description ---------------- 1\. Contribute to the coordination of international support in the field of culture by maintaining a good overview of the past, ongoing and planned interventions of international and national actors; 2\. Support UNESCO’s programme delivery in the field of culture and in particular the above-referred “Support for Ukraine in culture and education through UNESCO” project, including the preparation and conduct of field missions for UNESCO and project partners, including on-site damage assessment missions, in compliance with UN security regulations. 3\. Devise and keep updated the project workplan; 4\. Assist in the identification of implementing partners or contractors, as appropriate, in Ukraine, as well as in the collection of the required documentation for procurement and contracting procedures in accordance with UNESCO’s rules and regulations. Prepare bills of quantities and related procurement plans, and assist in the preparation of tenders for works and equipment to be procured under the project and assist in the procurement process in accordance with UNESCO’s rules and regulations; 5\. Support the liaison with the local stakeholders and beneficiaries, in particular the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy. Regularly coordinate the work of implementing partners or contractors, as appropriate, in Ukraine to ensure the timely implementation of activities and the quality of their deliverables. 6\. Conduct regular assessments of the risks related to the war context in which the project is implemented, identify any gaps and challenges, and advise on possible mitigation and corrective measures and ensure the timely implementation of necessary mitigation measures in close collaboration with the implementing partners and the UNESCO Liaison Officer in Kyiv; 7\. Contribute to the preparation of project reporting documents for the donor, as well as relevant inputs to UNESCO reports and other documents related to the Organization’s work in Ukraine, including facilitating the translation of documents from Ukrainian to English, and vice-versa, as necessary; 8\. Contribute to the project visibility and the development of content needed to implement the project’s communication plan and to mobilise the media in Ukraine in close collaboration with UNESCO's Communication and Public Engagement Division, and Kyiv Desk Communication Officer. 9\. Perform any other task as requested by the supervisor that may be required for the successful implementation of the project and UNESCO’s programmatic action in Ukraine.
