Activities and Tasks:

The consultant is expected to provide assistance to the below.

  • Support coordination, monitoring and documentation of overall implementation of teacher capacity building component of the KOICA-supported project in Kilinochchi
    • Provide support to overall internal planning by coordinating amongst UNICEF Country office, Kilinochchi Field office, and relevant CSO partners
    • Provide assistance to overall partnership management for implementation, by preparing and reviewing partnership documents and budgeting
    • Support documentation of relevant documents
  • Support monitoring and documenation of overall implementation of construction and supply of the KOICA supported project in Kilinochchi
    • Support monitoring the progress of construction by coordinating with UNICEF’s construction engineer
    • Support monitoring distribution of the supply items including classroom furniture
    • Support documentation of relevant documents
  • Support overall planning and implementation of community awareness programme
    • Support coordination among UNICEF Kilinochchi Field office and resource teams for planning and implementation of community awareness activities
    • Support documentation of relevant documents
  • Support coordination of overall Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) of the KOICA supported project in Kilinochchi
    • Support coordination of regular data collection in collaboration with UNICEF Kilinochchi Field Office
    • Provide assistance to coordination among relevant stakehodlers to collet inputs for donor reporting (i.e. annaul and biannual report)
    • Support documentation of relevant documents
  • Provide assistance to coordinating M&E system strengthening on quality in Northern Province
    • Support coordination among UNICEF Kilinochchi Fied Office and government partners
    • Support documentation of relevant documents
  • Support monitoring of the implementation of WinS/IPC in target schools in Northern Province
    • Provide support to monitoring supply components including establishing handwashing facilities and and provision of IPC items
    • Support monitoring of planning and implementation of IPC trainings and its school-level implementation
    • Support documentation of relevant documents

Work relationships: The consultant will be supervised by the Chief of Education of UNICEF Sri Lanka. The supervisor will provide guidance on the expected deliverables for the assignment as well as punctual feedback on draft products. The consultant is expected to work closely with relevant staff of Education team of UNICEF (both in Colombo and field offices), and the relevant partners including government officials, NGOs, and etc.

Duration - 11.5 months

Tentative Start date - 14 December 2020

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  1. Education: University degree (BA) in Education, Social Sciences, International Development or any other relevant field.
  2. Specialist skills/Training: Strong skills in coordination as well as paper works
  3. Years of experience: Minimum 2 years of professional experience in relevant field/tasks. Knowledge of and experience in the education sector in Sri Lanka is a strong asset. Working experience in UNICEF/UN or other international development organization, as well as with the government is an asset. Working experience in / with KOICA is a strong asset.
  4. Competencies: Analytical, Communication, Working with people

*Languages required: Excellent English oral and writing skills. Excellent Tamil language skills is required. Sinhala language skills is an asset.***

Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
