National Field Coordinator for NAITS Animal Shelter Piloting

Organizational Setting

The main aim of the FAO country offices, which are headed by an FAO Representative, is to assist governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors, and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner.

Reporting Lines

The National Field Coordinator for NAITS Animal Shelter Piloting shall report to and operate under the overall supervision and responsibility of the FAO Representative in Georgia, the direct supervision of the Technical Advisor and the project Budget Holder and in collaboration with the Deputy Team Leader of GCP/GEO/009/SWI project, and in cooperation with other staff of the FAO in Georgia.

Technical Focus

Provide technical expertise for the appropriate planning, development and implementation of the FAO project and timely delivery of the project outputs.

Tasks and Responsibilities

The National Field Coordinator for NAITS Animal Shelter Piloting will have the overall responsibility to support the implementation of the NAITS animal shelter reporting in the region of Shida Kartli (Gori and Khashuri) and Kakheti (Signagi), ensuring that all relevant tasks are timely completed, and issues are timely addressed. The functions of the National Field Coordinator will include, but not be limited to the below:

• Establish a working relation with the Municipalities/Municipal LEPLs managing animal shelters and maintain active communication facilitating the pilot implementation. • Assessment of the needs and support for provision of the availability of internet and IT equipment for the animal shelters to use the Pet Module of the NAITS. • Understand and map in a report the workflows used by the Animal Shelters and recommend how the workflows can incorporate the NAITS software for entering data. • Supervise the processing of animals in the NAITS database by the shelter staff and on basis of needs suggest improvements of the NAITS software. • Understand the specific needs for reporting of all stakeholders (animal shelters, animal protection NGOs, NFA) and draft report templates to be introduced in the NAITS. • Develop capacities of the animal shelter staff to use the NAITS – Pet Module. • Support the organization of trainings, events and handover of equipment as required. • Organize consultations with all animal shelter stakeholders on national level in coordination with project management to address common issues like registering of shelters, tagging of animals, replacement of numbers of animals. • Contribute to reporting needs of the project and report on: a. Progress of the implementation on monthly basis; b. Main issues encountered and recommendations for their resolution; c. Review of the achievement and recommendations for performance improvement.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

• Secondary education or higher, with sufficient IT proficiency. • Minimum 2 years of related work experience • Working knowledge of English and Georgian (mother tongue); knowledge of Russian would be an asset • National of Georgia or resident in the country with a regular work permit
