Organizational Setting

The project “Development of sustainable and inclusive local agro-food systems in north-west region of Azerbaijan” aims to establish local agro-food systems that integrate sustainable food production, processing, marketing, distribution and consumption supported by a demand driven agricultural advisory services system in the north-west region of Azerbaijan (Gakh, Zagatala and Balakan). Technical Focus

In this context, under the overall supervision of the Head of FAO Partnership and Liaison Office in Azerbaijan, direct supervision of the Assistant to FAO Representative and the technical supervision of the Lead Technical Officer, the consultant will provide practical training and consultation to project beneficiaries pre and post-harvest technologies, innovative horticultural practices, integrated pest management, and other relevant issues in the areas of nuts and persimmon growing. The consultant will specifically carry out the following functions:

Tasks and responsibilities

• Prepare training curricula and modules based on project beneficiary needs • Deliver practical in-field trainings to project beneficiaries • Provide relevant, professional information and consultation to project beneficiaries • Ensure all training and assessment documents including assessment tools and evidence of participation are collected, documented and submitted • Provide expert advice to agricultural advisory service providers in the region • Participate in coordination of Service Provider’s activities on provision of direct agricultural advisory to farmers • Continuously provide briefs about the meetings, trainings, research findings, recommendations, and achievements to project colleagues and the project’s Visibility & Communication Specialist for further sharing with wider audience

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

• An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in relevant field, • A minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional experience in food technology sector; • Working knowledge of English is required. • National of Azerbaijan or resident in the country with a regular work permit.
